Every NFL team has now played eight games, meaning the season has reached the halfway point. So this week we're presenting our NFL FanHouse Midseason Midtacular. Worst Coach of the Half-Season nominees:
Cam Cameron, Miami Dolphins: His team is not just winless, but so bad that the owner is conducting a study to determine why it's so bad.
Scott Linehan, St. Louis Rams: I almost feel bad putting Linehan on this list, given how many injuries the Rams have suffered. But when your quarterback is rolling his eyes at your directions, that's not a good sign.
Mike Nolan, San Francisco 49ers: Yes, he took over a lousy team three years ago. But all those high draft picks later, they're still lousy -- and he's the one who makes the decisions in the draft room.
Norv Turner, Chargers: He's allegedly an offensive mastermind, but he can't seem to figure out how to take a talented young quarterback, a future Hall of Fame running back, an outstanding offensive line and the best tight end in the game and build it up into a point-scoring machine.
And the winner is ...
Turner. The Chargers have already lost twice as many games this year as they lost last year. How much do they miss Marty Schottenheimer? The other three coaches can argue that their team doesn't have the talent to be a contender. No one can say that about the Chargers -- we know coaching is the problem.

Chan Gailey, Mike Mularky, Cam Cameron, Norv Turner, what do they all have in common?
They are great coordinators, but shitty head coaches.

I don't see what qualifies Cameron to be on that list. He's not in charge of the defense, which is giving up 30ppg. Blame Dom Capers, who was retained as defensive coordinator before Cameron was hired as head coach.
I would have picked Scott Linehan, honestly. Norv Turner isn't the problem in San Diego: Ted Cottrell is.

what about Brad Childress-here is the guy who went into the season with Tavares Jackson, Kelly Holcomb and Brooks Bollenger as his quarterbacks! If we had Jeff George we would be at least a .500 team! He also stopped using Adrian Peterson in the Packers game after the 1st half! Adrian is great despite Brad Childress, not because of!

Way to go, Peg. Mangina takes the prize...actually, Nolan is worse.

Nope, Norv deserves the award - the team has all the parts to be great, like last year, except they don't have Marty, to play Marty-ball. Yes, Marty gets too conservative when it comes to the playoffs, but he would have had this team back to the playoffs and not fighting for a wildcard spot!! Norv comes in and tries to change things that were going good. Ever hear of 'don't mess with a good thing?' Well, Charger's management did and they are payin' the price now.

Have to go along with FG, but not in such a descriptive way although justified, Andy Reid has allowed his coaching to become "mummified" with all of his personal issues this season, but his coaching was questionable for the last few seasons. This season, the standing "joke" is he is viewing a "rap sheet" on the sidelines while in seasons past it was a "Dennys' menue", either way, taking a pre-season favorite for post season involvement and turning it into a team in dissaray with very few "red zone" accomplishments can only be blamed on coaching.

Lovie Smith can't even get a nomination? Turner and Lovie should be the only guys in the conversation considering the talent on their rosters compared to your other nominees.

I agree how can you not include Eric Man-geinus. The 1-8 Jets beat Miami for their only win.

Why isn't John Fox a candidate for this list?

The reason why I said that John Fox should be on this list is because:
Despite a 4-4 record, their offense is a MESS. They signed Carr doing the offseason and expected him to be good but, he isn't. Steve Smith is starting to blow up because he ain't getting the darn ball. Defense isn't playing as good as they could be(with the exception of Jon Beason). He isn't giving enough carries to Williams and Jarrett is better than Carter and Colbert but where is he at? They're aren't throwing the ball down field despite having Smith and calling short passes on 3rd and long isn't smart. Then there the injuries to the quarterbacks. Delhomme is out for season and they don't have a back-up that can step up. Sure VT did good against the Cardinals but the Cardinals are a bad team. They have good teams like Seattle, Jacksonville, Dallas and Green Bay coming up. How long VT is going to last if he's getting sacked left and right like Carr did against the Titans this past Sunday? Fox and Hurney may not like drafting QBs but this is the year of the quarterback and they should get one that can actually be their next franchise QB instead of screwing around with these undrafted QBS. And that is my reason why that John Fox should be on this list. If I didn't reach a certain point, let me know.

Brian Billick and Ray Lewis go out into the woods one day to take some wildlife pictures. All of a sudden, a hungry bear charges toward them. Billick pulls out a pistol and shoots a couple shots, but the bear doesn't slow down.
Ray says "we better run coach"! Billick then aims the pistol at Ray and shoots him in both of his legs; and then.......Billick runs away.

I am a Giants fan but i watch the Jets when the Giants aren't playing and i can tell you that the Jets' main problem isn't Mangini. They have maybe two legitimate defensive starters and the rest are scrubs. Mangini put eight men in the box against the Skins and they still ran all over the Jets. None of his players would be starters in other NFL teams.
