Every NFL team has now played eight games, meaning the season has reached the halfway point. So this week we're presenting our NFL FanHouse Midseason Midtacular.
Biggest Baby on the Ravens nominees:
Brian Billick, head coach
If Billick spent as much time finding a competent offensive coordinator as he did making excuses for why the Ravens have yet to master the forward pass, he'd be a lot less likely to lose his job in, oh, say, eight weeks. Baltimore makes the turn at 4-4, even though they had the league's easiest schedule. Now they'll face the Chargers, Colts and Pats in the second half of the season, before a Week 17 matchup with the team that did this.
Ray Lewis, linebacker
Here's what Lewis told the media following the 38-7 shellacking at the hands of the Steelers on Monday night:
"The beautiful thing is that we lost to Cleveland, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh at their home ... Big deal. You are supposed to win those games at home. Bottom line, now those same teams have to come to Baltimore. For me, football season is just getting started."Uh, didn't the Ravens win 13 games last season with basically the same personnel? Now losing on the road in the division is acceptable. Way to raise the expecations, Ray-Ray.

Trevor Pryce, defensive end
Some of you, like James Harrison, may not know Pryce. Whatever, following the Steelers game, the guy had more excuses than a U.S. Senator in an airport bathroom. Pryce called Harrison's effort "a fluke", and Willie Parker "a fraud," all while doing bupkes during the game. Must've been using that time to think up clever things to say to the media.
And the winner is...
Ray Lewis. There is a good chance I could wake up dead.

Good to know that even at his decript old age, Ray Lews's mouth is still at 100%, even when everybody else is banged up at this point in the season.

Billick was in the same situation in 2005. It looked like he was going to be history. The team was 2-7; but they won 4 out of the last 7, and lost 3 games by 1,2, and 4 points. In 2000, the Ravens were 5-4, but won their last 10 games. The Ravens have won about 70% of the last 8 games of each season under Billick.
If the Ravens finish as good as 10-6 this season, it will have to be called "a miracle" for Billick. More realistically, the Ravens will probably finish at 6-10 or 5-11. If it is the latter, I can't see the management having any reason to keep Billick as head coach any longer. He is losing control of the team and dictating offensive plays which accomplish nothing. If someone else was calling plays, he might have an excuse. But right now, all blame should be placed on him.
Billick is an enigma here in Baltimore. Nobody can understand what he's doing and why he does what he does. The only people who understand what he is doing are the other team's DEFENSES!
I am just waiting to see if Billick can wiggle his way out of this mess.....meanwhile playoff hopes are going down the drain.

Yeah Cliff I think you're probably right. Even though we've gotten a superbowl and trips to the playoff's. If it hadn't been for the great defensive teams we've had we wouldn't have had that. We have never had an offense that you would have thought with an "offensive guru" in charge. I think when your head coach admits that he is needs to be better at play calling that is a "serious" problem. But wait a minute isn't that what an offensive coordinator / guru supposed to be able to do ? What happened ? I think if we are ever to have a good offense here it will have to be with someone else in charge. Also can someone please explain to me how can we have a sucessful ground game if we can't stretch the opponent's defense so the won't crowd the line because they know we won't throw past 10 yards.
