So Roger Clemens has "retired" yet again, but that doesn't mean that he's done playing baseball. No, I'm not talking about yet another comeback with the Yankees or Astros, but rather Team USA in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. From MLB.com (via Fark):Clemens, if healthy, would consider pitching for Team USA in the baseball tournament during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, one of his agents told MLB.com on Thursday night in response to an e-mail question.Of course, he also loves the idea of making millions of dollars each time he starts a game, so he might be turned off once he realizes there's no compensation. (What, me, cynical?) If he actually goes through with it, though, it'd be a nice way to cap off his career. But if the World Baseball Championship a couple of years ago proved anything it's that winning a gold medal would hardly be a cakewalk -- and it'll be even tougher in the Olympics where players on an MLB 25-man roster aren't eligible to participate. Team USA won Olympic gold in 2000 in Sydney but failed to even make the 2004 games in Athens when they lost to Mexico in a qualifying round.
"I think, if things fell into place and he felt good, he would be interested," said agent Randy Hendricks about the 45-year-old Clemens, who has won 354 Major League games and pitched part of the 2007 season for the Yankees. "He loves the idea of representing his country."

Clemens pitch in for TEAM USA? This isn't a clip from the New Movie "Bad News Bears out of Diaper's " is it. That guy has got to give it up. He soaked the Brainless Yankee's out of 28 Million for two month of work and 5 Win's. He sucks big time. I know a little league team back home that's looking for a pitcher. HEY CLEMEN"S GIVE IT UP & LET GO !!!

Listen, take him. He was supposed to throw out the first ceremonial pitch of the Little League World Series but they had to take him off the mound moments before because he pulled a hammy.

It would be a fitting way for Roger Clemens to say goodbye to baseball by playing for Team USA in the 2008 Summer Olympics if the USA qualifies for the games.

you know guys, people always bring A-Rod when they talk about greedy ball players. but what about the rocket? he got a pro-rated 28 million dollar contract, to essentially pitch what 10 games? not to mention all the special priveledges too. he didnt have to be anyhwere near the team on days he didnt pitch, private plane to and from whatever city the team was in for his pitching days, not to mention other stuff. at least when A-Rod gets his money he's gonna produce some numbers (in all the months not named october anyways) where as the rocket isnt gonna give you much

ROGER IS BEING ROGER. I THINK THAT HE WILL AT LEAST TRY TO PITCH IN 2008. WHY NOT? HE WAS PRETTY GOOD FOR THE YANKS IN 2007 GIVEN THE TURMOIL. SHOULD HE FEEL STRONG- STRIKE YOUR BUTT OUT! DON'T CONFUSE BASEBALL WITH THE WINTER AMERICAN FILLER SPORTS-BRAIN, GUT , STRENGTH, DESIRE THESE QUALITIES ARE MATCHED SOMEWHAT BY SOCCER AND BOXING. BASKETBALL LIVES FOR THE FINAL TWO MIKES AAND I REALLY DON'T CARE WHAT FOOTBALL DOES OR DOESN'T DO AS NEW YORK HAS ONE TEAM, THE BILLS (GIANTS, JETS BELONG TO NEW JERSEY). LOOKING FORWARD TO 2008, THE YANKS WILL ENTER THE CAMPAIGN WITH ARGUABLY THEIR BEST STAFF IN MORE THAN SEVEN YEARS.
