I'm sure some of you sick Blues and Avs fans have been praying for the Detroit Red Wings to be involved in a plane accident of some sort. Admit it, you've probably had a few dreams about Chris Chelios screaming like a little girl as his plane goes down.Well, now your dreams have come true! Yes, the Red Wings were involved in a plane accident last night after their game against the St. Louis Blues.
First, they lost 4 to 3 to the St. Louis Blues. Then the team plane skidded off the runway while trying to take off late last night.
A Red Wings spokesman says the teams DC-9 charter jet was traveling down the north runway, when the right wheels slid off the runway, into the grassy median.
The right side of the aircraft sunk into the mud, tilting the plane to the point where the right wing is about a foot off the ground. No one was hurt, and everybody was evacuated without incident. The plane remained stuck Wednesday morning.
Ha ha! OK, so nothing bad really happened, and the Wings are just a little shaken and stirred. The plane was traveling at just a few miles per hour, so the Wings were never in any real serious danger.
In all seriousness, hockey players do have to do an awful lot of traveling, and it's a good thing incidents like this are few and far between. Sorry, No Photos

The sick here is the person that wrote this article this way. This is the Media crap and how it is written to sensationalize this accident. I am NOT Red Wings fan at all, I live on the east coast and root for MY team, but this is sickening, the way this was written....You need a 12 step program and to go back to journalism school you moron!

Utter baloney writing like this. Chris Chelios crying like a little girl?
I would like to see the writer in a plane incident and see if he is so manly as to not cry or scream.
Horrible writing. Idiotic writing.
This guy gets paid to write? Come on.

That was low quality - not working at my craft - writing. We see this too often in writing and on TV. Reporters think they are writing fiction just to get a job done and get on with whatever they are doing. Lazy, unprofessional work.
The reporter is one sick guy. Sports fan cheer for their team, hope opponets lose. They do not want their opponents to die. Fire this guy.

I bet I could take this "writer" on a skydive and make him piss his pants and scream like a little girl. I HATE the Red Wings, with a sports "hate" for them. Hell, I rooted for Chris Chelios when he was a player for the Blackhawk's! No true fan of any sport wants to see anyone truely hurt, or worse killed!! This guy is a piece of $h1T and not a sports fan at all!!! He needs to get a life...or maybe he doesn't! Have a nice plane flight a$$hole!

First of all, they weren't traveling down the runway, but a taxiway, meaning they weren't moving very fast. The pilot overshot a turn and the wheel left the pavement and became stuck in the mud. Inconvenient, but certainly not an "accident". In aviation this might be considered an extremely minor incident according to the FARs. Second, it isn't a charter jet, but the team's own plane. Third, these are the Wings and no matter how many significant roster changes there are each year, they consistently turn out a dominant team--that's cause for respect, rivalry, but respect. Get over the pettiness and learn how to write!

What a terrible way to report something that could have really been tragic. Anyone that would wishes that their rivals die is no true sports fan, or decent human being for that matter. Athletes are there to compete and may the best team win, and that could happen on any given day. But to say you dreamed of some one screaming to their death is just SICK!!
p.s. When did Dick Cheney start writting sports blogs?

"We are Marshall!"
One of my worst fears is for any group of men or women travelling to compete and entertain us, is involved in such a tragedy. This comment was absolutely cruel to the fans, the players and inciteful to those of us who love our players! Sensationalized journalism has no place when it is hateful. Fire him like Imus!

Actually, this venerable fine 'ol jet did NOT skid off of a runway but rather drifted off of a taxiway while cutting a right turn too close & tight --- IF the photo' above is of the actual team aircraft.
It's not necessarily a major point to make but does prove (yet again) that those whom write about these (& other) things in life rarely know very much about the topic(s) at-hand. Get it right, bloggies.

After reading all of the comments I have to agree that in general that this was a poorly article and the writer should take a seat in the corner for an hour, what a jerk. AND I'm a Rangers fan.
