Well-Dunn, Warrick Dunn Tops 10,000

Warrick Dunn was never supposed to be durable enough to last long enough to get 5,000 yards, much less 10,000, but somehow the Falcons back has managed to put himself into elite company. With a simple two-yard run straight up the middle against the Colts, Dunn topped 10,000 yards, earning himself a standing ovation and a very brief acknowledgment before the game resumed.

The former Florida State star becomes only the 22nd running back in NFL history to reach 10,000 yards. He's the smallest back to do it as well. Dunn may not be the best small back the NFL has ever seen--Tiki Barber and Thurman Thomas were better, but Dunn has probably done as good a job as anybody at getting everything out of his ability.
Dunn knows that he's overcome lots of naysayers, it seems to be something that fuels him to keep going.
"I think I've surprised people over the years with how hard I run and how tough I am," said Dunn, now in his 11th season. "I haven't worn down. Just to be at this point in my career, to me that says a lot to all the people who doubted me."
And more than that, he's an even better person. Dunn's Home For The Holidays program has built houses for 73 single mothers, he's been named the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year and he's pretty much acknowledged to be one of the NFL's most altruistic stars.

And now he's reached a mark that Roger Craig, Earl Campbell and Larry Czonka never did. Not bad for a guy who was thought by some to be a third-down back coming into the league because of his size.
