Mike Williams Weighs 271 Pounds

ESPN's Chris Mortensen checked in this morning with a stunning report: NFL draft bust Mike Williams weighed 271 pounds when he reported for practice with the Titans this week.

No, not the Mike Williams who was an NFL draft bust as a tackle for the Bills. The Mike Williams who was an NFL draft bust as a wide receiver for the Lions. That must make Williams the fattest wide receiver in NFL history.

The Lions traded Williams (along with quarterback Josh McCown) to the Raiders for a fourth-round draft pick in April, and the Raiders cut Williams this season, more because of his bad hands than his big appetite. Now the Titans have signed Williams, and Mortensen reports that offensive coordinator Norm Chow (who worked with Williams at USC) wants to make him a hybrid tight end/H-back.

Chow is a brilliant offensive coach, and far be it from me to tell him what to do, but I'll be shocked if Williams can ever play tight end or H-back because Williams was a horrible blocker in Detroit. But I dunno. If he gets much bigger, maybe they can move him to defensive tackle.
