I am a lifelong Redskins fan and I honestly can't believe the news that Sean Taylor has passed away. I am in a state of shock. My prayers go out to Sean's family and friends.
I don't care that we lost a safety for the Redskihs. Ever since I heard the senseless shooting about 24 hours ago, I figured Taylor's football career was over. But I hoped and prayed that Taylor, the man, would still be able to go on with his life. He was just a 24-year old man with a young daughter that will need him. 24 years old. You have your entire life ahead of you. Yet someone thought it was worth taking that life over some money or goods.
As fans, we think we know these players ... and we don't. We love these cats from afar. On the field, Taylor was a stud. He was a Pro Bowler last season and was on his way to doing that again this year. Since he was drafted in 2004, He has been one of the most exciting Redskins players and one of the reasons we all felt that this team was going in the right direction. How can you not love a guy that says this:
"I just take this job very seriously," Taylor said in a rare group interview during training camp. "It's almost like, you play a kid's game for a king's ransom. And if you don't take it serious enough, eventually one day you're going to say, 'Oh, I could have done this, I could have done that.'
"So I just say, 'I'm healthy right now, I'm going into my fourth year, and why not do the best that I can?' And that's whatever it is, whether it's eating right or training myself right, whether it's studying harder, whatever I can do to better myself."
I'm with Clinton Portis on this. If only he had been with the team Sunday. If only he would have been on the flight from Tampa to Washington. If only his knee wasn't hurt. If only.
If only people didn't feel necessary to take a life in order to get a few extra bucks.
God be with you, Sean.

5. Lord have Mercy. We ALL NEED TO TRUST GOD THAT'S ALL WE CAN DO THIS WORLD IS CRAZY WE ALL DO NOT HAVE ANY CLUE AS TO WHEN WE ARE LEAVING TO GO HOME TO OUR LORD. Times like this makes you realize life IS short and live it like it's your last day. I was so hurt by this tragedy only God knows who and why and God foresaw this and he knew but we didn't so just pray and stay strong and trust in the lord it's all we can do. 6. It was just a matter of time that Taylor got shot.He was an azz-hole while at The "U" as well as in D.C.
Dude carries a gun in his car and holds a machete at an intruder ? PLEASE ! LMAO . More will come out. Now all we need is PacMan & Chris Henry to get capped. The NFL will be a better place !

7. When I heard about Sean yesterday morning I was shocked, and deeply hurt. I woke up this morning with tears in my eyes & a heavy heart. I grew up with & know alot of profesinal football players that came from my home town, and that also attended the U!
I was really praying that he would make a full recovery not knowing that he was shot in one of the most vital arteries in the body which led him to bleed out so much & eventually loose his life. He was only 24yrs ol'.
My family's thoughts & prayers are with Sean & his entier family. Espically his little angel. I know he'll be watching over her. And as for the Miami Dade Police Dept. Y'all better get on y'all JOB & FIND WHO DID THIS & MAKE THEM PAY!!!!!!!!!

8. To the above poster, I can't even image what place a person has to be in to insult and demean a young man with a young daughter who has had his life taken. The best bet for all of us is just to ignore the ignorant and hateful like you.
For myself, I'm not a Redskins fan but having lived in DC for the past 5 years, I've been able to watch nearly every professional game Sean Taylor played. The NFL lost a special talent and I'd echo the other posters in wishing my deepest sympathies to his family and teammates, and especially to his little girl who will grow up without her dad. Tragic and senseless.

11. As a lifelong Redskins fan myself, I am saddened by the loss of a team member. Even more so, as a human being I am DEVASTATED by the loss of this young man's life. He was just a kid himself, and now he will never get to see his baby girl grow up. This is a sad day, indeed. I certainly hope the police catch these cruel and senseless killers. RIP Sean, and my thoughts and prayers are with the Taylor family.

13. I'm not a Redskins fan and I only remember Mr. Taylor from being on tv for a court appearance. But that doesn't matter when you see someone take another persons life for no reason. Mr. Taylor was a human being and no one has the right to take that away from him, his family and friends (fans). As a police officer myself I've seen this alot in my career. My family and I is very sorry to hear about the loss of Mr. Taylor and our Hearts go's out to his family.

14. Condolences to the Taylor family, the Redkins organization and foortball fans in the USA.
Crimes of this nature are not needed. Let's all
pray that law enforcement finds the perpetrator and that he/she is convisted on legitimate evidence and given the penalty he/she deserves.

15. When I found out last night that Sean was shot, I was shocked and worried. I was hoping he was going to be ok, but when I woke up this morning, to find out that it was not the case, that he had passed away
I was devastated, and I still am. No words can really
describe on what I am feeling at this time, and to be
quite frank, I really don't know what to say truly. To the Taylor family, My deepest sympathies and prayers are with you, in this horrible tragedy. Sean was such a wonderful man, he will be sorely missed around the NFL, and around the world. He is not in any pain anymore, and he is where no one can hurt him
anymore, he's with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
God Bless you all, and please let us know what we can do for you. RIP Sean.

16. This is a very sad day indeed for Redskins fans and Sean Taylor's family. He was so talented and had a long career ahead of him on the field and off the field a long life of watching his daughter grow up. I hope that they catch the person responsible quickly. I'm a life long Skins fan as well and this is not only shocking but devastating as well. R.I.P. Sean Taylor and my prayers and condolences to his family and friends

17. God be with the family of Sean. He has gone home to a place that God had set for him. God just took my mom home but it is us who are selfish and sit a cry on & on while we should be thinking that they are with the King of Kings now our Father in Heaven. My prayers and my thought go out to all the family and especiaaly his little girl. But now I have a response to Pamela you have a nerve and must be cold hearted to write such a thing knowing that his family and friends who cared for him might read. If you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything. You are the azz hole lmos.

18. To the sick individual that posted that awful comment, I will pray for you. Not only for you, but anyone that has to look at you or even come in contact with you. I can not believe that you would glorify the death of a human being and wish violence on others. That is truly the devil at work.
My condolences goes out to Taylor's family especially his daughter. I know we can not see the good that has come out of this at this time, but we must thank God for allowing us to know Taylor on Earth. Remember he was not ours, but on borrow from the Lord. I will continue to pray for his family, friends and his fans.

19. Is anyone completely SHOCKED that this happened to this young man? I should think not. Now if it happened to Marvin Harrison. Then I would be shocked. Does anyone else think that maybe Mr Taylor knew his attacker?
