Two different people are claiming that Texas Tech basketball coach Bob Knight shot them in two separate hunting accidents last month. In both cases, the people say they suffered no injuries when they were hit with birdshot. One person, Mary Ann Chumley, says a stray pellet hit her on the foot on Oct. 20. She says Knight was hunting too close to her barn and that he apologized for it. The other person, James Simpson, told Lubbock police he was hit in the neck and back by pellets from Knight's shotgun after yelling at him for hunting too close to his house.
Simpson said he thinks either Knight or his hunting partner shot at him on purpose. Knight called that "ridiculous."
"That's all been taken care of, that's over with," Knight said. "You haven't heard anything from that guy for two weeks. That's done. I got no comment on that whatsoever because that's absolute (expletive)."I seriously doubt Bob Knight would intentionally fire a gun at someone, but I also think it would be nice if he'd show a little concern for these two people. And I think it would be nice if he'd show a little more caution when he's out shooting his gun, seeing as he also shot a friend with 16 pellets while hunting in 1999. The world would probably be a better place if Bob Knight never shot a shotgun again.

UPDATE: Bobby Knight Denies Shooting at House, Doesn't Appreciate Swearing and Cussing

1. If any other human being was involved in these incidents, there would not be a story. Why is there one now?

2. I guess things have changed. When I was in my youth and used to hunt, we would always ask permission to hunt on someone's property. It's the proper and respectful thing to do.

3. Bob Knight always has had a bad & vicious temper. If he shot people, he (in his own mind) thought they got in the way & deserved what they got.

4. Isn't it odd that these people are sure it was Bob Knight who discharged the shotgun that fired the pellets that struck them. Were they watching him hunt? This whole thing sounds fishy to me....

To the person who wrote the comment #3:
Prior to posting something on the net for the world to see, get a dictionary and place it close to your computer. Your thoughts, which may prove to be insightful, are lost on your inability to spell.

6. First and foremost, its pure speculation that Bobby Knight (himself) shot in the direction of a building while bird hunting the other day (and hit anyone at all). #2. If he did (and that's a huge IF), he most certainly did not do it intentionally nor maliciously mean to do harm in either case. Period. End of report! On a whole different subject...my interest is in Mr. Knight's golf game. I'd venture to guess he may have trouble hanging on to golf clubs and miscellaneous parts and pieces of THAT game.

7. A man who shoots off his mouth indescriminately will also shoot off his pellet gun indiscriminately.

8. Having had my very own personal run-in with Knight while I was a student at IU 30 years ago, I can say that nothing this a-hole does surprises me.

9. To hunt in Texas, you hunt on your own land OR lease the right to land for setting up blinds and year around feeders (so a city slicker can ambush the well-fed, trained animals during hunting season). Many of these leased areas are close to residential areas and highways....Texas lawmakers need to survey these close proximity leases and consider banning hunting within these areas and the number of hunters allowed per lease.

10. To J Robben .
How many times did you say a word in anger ?
Does that mean you will shoot someone even with a squirtgun ?
I hunt and most hunters I know as well as me , dont shoot at people .
By the way , my Thanksgiving dinner was wild turkey that came from the field and not from the liquor store .
