Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre suffered what appeared to be a right forearm or elbow injury during the second quarter of tonight's game in Dallas against the Cowboys. The Favre injury took place when he was hit by blitzing Cowboys defensive back Nate Jones just as he threw a pass.
The injury doesn't appear to be too serious -- trainers are working on Favre on the sideline and have not taken him to the locker room, indicating that they don't think he needs X-rays or an MRI. But it was serious enough that he was replaced by Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers struggled in his first series, running for a first down but doing just about nothing through the air. On his second series, however, he got more comfortable, leading the Packers down the field on a drive that ended with a touchdown pass to Greg Jennings.
UPDATE: Favre stayed in the locker room after halftime for X-rays. NFL Network reports he has a numb right hand and is not likely to return.

6. Hey Norm..You sound as sick of hearing about the overated Favre as I do. It was awesome to see his true ability come to life as he finally played a good team for the 1st time this year. He can go back to accomplishing his personal feats since it's obvious that he can't accomplish team goals. He would be a real star at ping pong, pool, golf or tennis since those are all about individual accompishments and not team sports. Oh.I forgot..he did win one superbowl in his loooong carrer. Of course that was after Aikman retired, LOL.

7. You will never see Norm or Gary in the Hall of Fame, but you will see Favre. Norm and Gary can have their day, but it'll be short lived and then they'll fade into the very little black hole from which they came.

8. Brett has been a great player but I don't like it when players linger on for glory. Its time, Brett to cut lose and let Rodgers have his time. Players like Brett have a hard time leaving - they get a little greedy and that is a shame. Our human nature always works against us this way. The greats like Barry Sanders, Bobby Jones in golf, and a few others I can't think of right now - leave when they know they should - not for the glory but just because.....

9. Well Packer fans Favre showed his mediocrity when finally getting to paly a good team for the 1st time this year. He is average at best, 0-9 at Dallas, threw 2 interceptions in a quarter & a half, got put on his ass more than once, got knocked out of the game & had a 1st year QB make him look like a loser. But I am sure all you packer fans will spend the rest of the week making excuses while using your kleenex to dry the tears. You will still come in 1st in the weakest division in Football to at least find some pleasur in that as you have for many years. By the way..Aaro Rogers should be your starting QB...Not Favre!

10. Poor Brett...Maybe with Rogers as a starter they can focus on team accomplishments & not individual ones for a change. They may even end up a better team. There is life after Favre. Maybe the Packers can win another Superbowl in the next 16 years with a new QB who isn't so concerned about personal records & cares more about the team. As usual, good year or not, it's another example of a guy hanging around to long. Like I said.he finally played a fairly good team & got his ass pounded, knocked out of the game, threw 2 interceptions in 20 minutes & completed only 5 passes in a quarter & a half. What part don't you understand!! Favre will be in the hall of fame for his own accomplishments, not for what he did for the Packers....Period!!

11. No one likes to see a player go down. At least the hit on Favre was clean. Had it been a bounty paid Packer player, he might not have any season left. The Cowboys are simply the better team all around. The Cowboys came out on top. That makes them winners. What does that make the Packers ?? LOL !!!

12. I fully agree, only people with-out football knoledge will make negative statements about a football player with such positive reccords!

13. I think the Pack did pretty good considering all of the players that were out due to injuries, including Brett. Dallas didn't impress me at all playing essentially against quite a few of the second string players. Why is it that out of the last ten matchups the Pack has had to play nine of them in Dallas? Must be that the memory of the Ice Bowl still Haunts them. Brett and the Pack will be back starting next week.

14. Those of you who try to insult Brett Favre either, do'nt know anything about football or, you're so jealous of his accomplishments, you can't stand it! Face it, he's one of the greatest to play the game! Not to mention they played Dallas without two of their best players. And when Brett got hurt they were playing, missing three of their players for over half the game. Farvre is football. GO PACKERS

15. Gary,
The Cowboys won by only 10. 10 of those points came off of terrible officiating decisions... hmmmmmmm Cowboys may have won the game... but overall, they should have won much more easily after Favre was out. They spent their time practicing on Favre's offense and couldn't pick it up against a qb who played a different type of game. A good dynamic defense should have been able to shut out Rodgers.
Oh yeah and how about T. O. didn't he drop multiple passes? You talk about Favre playing for himself and not the team... when your allstar claim-to-fame receiver drops passes because he is show-boating a 1 handed catch, what does that say about him? Total d-bag.
Favre isn't playing for himself. He loves the Packers. He was born a football player and that is why he is still playing. That's just what he does. Get over it. GO PACK!

16. WOW...Norm and Gary you two should never be allowed to comment on another aspect of football ever again. You just basically said that a sure hall of fame quarterback who owns most of the passing records is terrible. The guy has been tearing it up this year, think about all the quarterbacks starting for teams right now, most of them don't even come close to reaching the numbers that Favre has put up this year. Plus you're basically saying all the teams that Favre has played this year are bad. The Giants? The Lions? The Chargers? The Eagles? Last time I checked these are not bad teams. Yeah he takes chances and occationally he has a bad game. Uh did you see Peyton Manning throw six INTs last week? I guess he's a terrible quarterback also. Ever wonder why almost every analysist and person who knows anything about football only say great things about Favre's playing ability? Maybe because he's a Hall of Fame caliber quarterback who has broken countless records and continues to play well even at 38 years of age. What you guys said was downright ignorant and dumb.
