Year 2 seems to agree with Jesse Palmer and Jim Donnan:
In the end what we have here is someone seeking to promote his player by denigrating another. We also have an NFL supremacist taking a shot at the spread offense, despite the fact that his own "pro-style" offense hasn't been run in the NFL for over a decade. We also have someone asking for 70+ points to be scored on him come August 30, 2008. Perhaps when Tebow levels his linebackers, June Jones will understand why Tebow is such a special player as a runner. And maybe, just maybe, as he watches Tebow connect with Percy Harvin on a 70 yard touchdown pass he'll realize a year behind the rest of the country that hey, this kid can throw after all.FanHouse reaction: Speechless... simply speechless. And JJ, please, share the wealth. Whatever you're smoking has got to be da bomb.

I saw June Jones' "system quarterback" comments live during the ESPN Bowl Game Special. And I thought to myself, "as soon as Ryan hears about this, it will be an excellent post on AOL".
I feel bad for JJ; he had to say something to make a case for his guy. And it was clear that he and his assistant coaches discussed this over Subway sandwiches and said, "well, this is the best we can come up with? Okay, sure, roll with it."
I will say this; whenever you find yourself agreeing with Jessie Palmer, you should always take a moment to reconsider what you're arguing. In this case, I think Jessie, you and the entire nation is right; Tebow is the real posed-trophy-winning deal.

Ryan, how about your dumb-ass predication that UM would only win 1-2 games. You must have been smoking that same shit and sold it to JJ.

I knew people would respond after I saw June Jones make his "comments" on ESPN. I think interviewer Rece Davis was a bit incredulous himself. I think June forgot who he's going to be playing come the start of next season. Geno Davis of FSU learned what trash talking can result in!

To the Tebow bobbers:
Tebow's team has, quite arguably, the most talented football players in the nation- on both sides of the ball, at every position, Florida brings in the best athletes in the country. Conversely, Hawaii does not. This is what makes Brennan so amazing. With a subpar defense, a mediocre offensive line, and a shell of a running game, Hawaii's only chance to win football games is to simply outscore their opponents with through the air. In addition to all of this, Hawaii's opponents know EXACTLY what to expect. So when you consider Brennan's statistics, take into account that all of it has come against 7 or 8 defensive backs.

Yeah, 7 or 8 bad defensive backs. The WAC is worse than the Sun Belt once you get past Hawaii and Boise State.
According to the Sagarin ratings, the best team Hawaii has played this year is #28 Boise State. How many other teams have not lost to a team #28 or below, just like Hawaii? Seven:
Arizona State
Florida
Kansas
LSU
Missouri
Ohio State
Virginia Tech
Just something to think about.

It astonishes me to read your comments. June Jones said the truth... Compare the numbers, records broken, efforts and accomplishments. Hawaii a WAC team with the weakest schedule showed up and played a team that had the strongest schedule then adjusted and won. Look back at the other big teams Hawaii has beat. Come on people, have you all forgotten what a real football game feels like. ESPN2 will rebroadcast the game tomorrow I suggest you watch it and get the feeling back. A thrilling game from start to end! To have to watch and on top of that have to hear sports on ESPN because there is no other alternative sickens me.

gezzz...what you guys are missing is why June Jones said Tebow is a "system QB" Let me explain so there is absolutely no misunderstanding. For the past two years, almost every sports announcer has labeled Brennan a "system QB" I have heard that as a steady diet for over two years. June Jones was a bit tired of that label and merely put that same label on Tebow. Suddenly there is a furor. Why hasn't the same furor been raised about all the comments about Brennan being a system QB? Fairs fair. Certainly Jones respects Tebow...he was just making a point which went way way over the heads of ESPN'S announcers.

Dave, no one's buying any of that stuff. Tebow will win the Heisman, McFadden will come in second, and Colt Brennan will be voted in third or possibly fourth place. Why? Because if your schedule consistently includes a bunch of D-IAA and Schools for the Blind and Poor, your QB's xbox-like stats will not be taken seriously.
Perhaps Brennan really is an amazing talent beyond all belief, but we won't know, not at the college level anyway, because he simply didn't play elite competition week in and week out. Tebow and McFadden did.
This is not being seriously debated anywhere except perhaps in the state of Hawaii. Brennan is a fine quarterback, and he'll have an opportunity to show us what he can really do when he takes on a red-hot Georgia team in the Sugar Bowl. If he can produce in that game, maybe I'll reconsider my assessment. Until then, I don't even put Brennan in the same league as McFadden and Tebow. Sorry.

Tebow is the most over rated player in college football. A run up the middle QB or lets throw a behind the line of scrimmage pass and let someone run 70 yards for his nice stats. OK, lets run up the middle, and by the way, lets lose every game to a team that might be better than us. Colt Brennan should win it for what the award is suppose to be all about. Especially this year, Tebows passes look like punts most of the time, and he sure is no Michael Vick when he runs up the middle. I can't wait till Tebow goes pro and has a middle linebacker hit him, there goes his big ego then. Brennan will have a better pro career, just wait and see. Your love affair with Tebow will be short lived. Tell me just one QB in the pros you would take Tebow over?? Thats right, not one, he is so over rated, and just a punk at that. Cocky ass just like his sorry ass coach.

Come on, people. All QBs are system players to some extent. And I get that June Jones is trying to turn the tables on other QBs by saying that they are system QBs, just as the media calls Brennan a system QB. But that's not exactly the issue with Brennan, who is a system QB in another sense. Brennan plays competition that is so weak that his coach only has five guys blocking for him, with the rest running routes. Trust me, Brennan will get more than a concussion if he doesn't get more protection against UGA.
And it takes a serious Gator-hater not to see that Tebow deserves the Heisman; I'm not even up for spouting that kind of nonsense. Chase Daniel was the only other legitimate contender before last weekend, and he's done. I'd say any reasonable, non-biased observer is about 99% convinced that Tebow should get it. Maybe not Ohio State fans, though.

Here's a better question Mike? Ask Gamecock Man which "college" QB would he rather not face next year and you'll have your answer. I suspect TT would be in his Top 5, don't ya think? Why don't you ask Mark Richt, or Les Miles, or SOS, or Tuberville who they would rather NOT face next year. I'm guessing that would be the All-SEC First Team QB (in the toughest conference). I know Bulldog fans that are upset he is only a sophomore. Do you think Colt Brennan instills fear in anyone besides Colorado State and Charleston Southern? Glenn Dorsey may be a better pro than TT, should he get the award instead based on your "Pro" argument?
Overrated? Who is #2 in PASSING efficiency in the country? Forget his rushing TD's for a second. You can't be overrated against an SEC schedule and arrive at #2. So, congrats. You are apparently a hater. Cocky ass coach? You might want to check out the ring on his right hand. He has earned a little cockinesss. You are officially on ignore, Mike, until you actually write something intelligent, thoughful and unbiased? We are all homers at times, but haters? C'mon...

HiYa Rowefork..Tebow is a great quarterback, as is Brennan and Stafford and there are many others..Everyone seems to forget that LINE PLAY makes a great quarterback or running back or passer..As for fearing Tebow, Don't forget this years Ga-Fla game. Tebow was sacked 6 times and scored one touchdown and lost 45-23..NO quarterback or running back is worth a dam without the line in front of him.. We are NOT upset and look forward to kicking his ass again next year with our ever maturing offensive & defensive lines..Go Dawgs!
(And needless to say, the same is valid for Mr. Brennan in the Sugar Bowl!) And, I spent a year in Honolulu, and the Maui Wowie IS Teriffic....

Jim, you got your work cut out next year. You play UF the week after LSU? Add that to a healthy Tebow (hopefully) with OUR "maturing" O & D lines and you had better hope that Knowshon runs for 200 yards. Don't forget we had the same youth issues on the lines not to mention our secondary. Stafford isn't the concern. Take away his two big plays in that game and the kid threw for like 80 yards. Knowshon is the difference. Period. If he is healthy and isn't pissed that Caleb King is getting carries, you guys could win. This was the year to beat UF and the Dogs did. Next year...stay tuned.

Mike....first of all, i am ashamed to share a first name with someone who is obviously so ignorant, but beyond that, you are just wrong. Tebow is one of the classiest guys in the league and his behavior is evidence of that. Meyer does his job and very well at that. It is difficult to be the head coach at a premier program with out having an ego of some sort. All great coaches do, they just all come across differently...I see confidence, and a little bit of cockiness. Tebow on the other hand, is a 19 year old kid and he has handled himself better that most people twice his age would in a similar situation.
Most plays that are from behind the line of scrimmage are end around type plays and Tebow doesnt get stats for that. He has many long passes down field and one numerous occations his receivers are tackled inside the five, so he just runs it in. Tebow gives you the luxury of having a guaranteed TD inside the five. This is not a normal thing in the SEC. Inside the ten yard line is the most difficult place to conduct your offense in the SEC. Tebow makes it look like a gimme...cuz he just takes it. If you think you are tired of hearing about him now, wait 2 yrs and see if you can avoid it. ESPN will have to broadcast an entirely new station for the coverage....they will call it TSPN.
