Absent a moral high ground, I wonder if Gottlieb has refrained from villifying other athletes who have made similar "mistakes" or has he joined other sports media shark feeding frenzies when that kind of blood is in the water? It's probably the former.

It's a shame that a man cannot escape his past. Whatever Gottlieb did, it's all behind him. He's entitled to make a living and pursue a career despite past criminal convictions. I generally have a low regard for ESPN announcers, but in this case, if someone calls in an attacks the shows host like this, he should have the right to attack back. It looks as if Gottlieb got off some pretty good shots of his own.

The announcers are there to talk about sports or whatever the show happens to be about, unless they are pushing themselves, as in the case of Rush Limbaugh, other than that, the callers should direct their questions or comments to sport related items, not personal attacks on the show host. In this case, from reading the little bit that I see here, Gottlieb won those two battles.

The shot he took about the pizza and then about the guys mom, they are both classics. Hooray for him standing up and not taking that stuff off a nameless, faceless coward that calls in just to make someone look bad on a personal basis.

I think Gottlieb is actually pretty decent over at ESPN. Comparing some of the clowns that they have there.. (Like Colin "I cheated on my wife and lost my kids" Cowherd.. Stuart "Ill play the race card when a black athlete does something wrong" Scott.. and Stephen A "I make Stuart Scott look tame about playing the race card" Smith is on the airways over there.. spewing crap 24/7.. ESPN has gone to hell in a hand basket.. they used to report sports news.. and play highlights... now.. they would rather run with rumors and try to start controversy.. No problem with it...Actually it was a nice comeback!! Accessibility to announcers, pundits, etc is unprecedented w/ Online Chats, call in shows, etc.. Is the media personality or any medium really this pertinent to the viewing of an athletic event! Turn ther volume down, they are all self-absorbed and report only to serve their own intersets! We do not
