Former Dallas quarterback and Hall of Famer Troy Aikman wants you to know that the Cowboys can beat the Patriots, despite what New England fans might have you believe. He made this comments last Friday, so maybe Aikman has changed his mind in light of Dallas' come-from-behind win against Detroit, and the Pats blowing out the Steelers ... but I doubt it.
"I'm amazed really when I hear people say New England blew the Cowboys out," Aikman told reporters Thursday in Irving. "I know what the final score was (48-27 on Oct. 14). I realize all that. It was a seven-point game in the fourth quarter. A different play here, and a different play there, it's a different outcome. That's probably worth remembering -- the Cowboys were leading for most of the game, and had no trouble moving the ball on offense. Still, when the Pats got rolling, well, that was that.
And that's the thing -- the speed with which New England can put points on the board is dizzying. It's a seven-point game, you blink, and the next time you glance at the scoreboard the Cowboys are trailing by three touchdowns.
To be fair, Aikman isn't blind to what the Patriots are doing. He made his comments with some qualifications:
"And I understand that what happened, happened. I get all of that... Don't get me wrong - I think the Patriots are the best team in football. But if they played 10 times, I don't think the Patriots win all 10. I think (the Cowboys) win three or four. I don't think they win five. But if they get New England on one of those three or four days, it's anyone's game."I can't disagree with that. It's just too bad that if the Cowboys meet the Pats in the Super Bowl, they won't get 10 shots to win it.

TROY AIKMAN ON FOOTBALL:
The best football team does not necessarily have the best football players but it does have the best football players who play the best football and make the best football plays during the football game. That's the key to football. This has been Troy Aikman on...um...oh, yeah, football. How could I have forgotten?

The Pats-Dallas game played it was the Pats who were ahead most of the game--not Dallas.
Jimmy Johnson recently said the same thing as Aikman.
I'm a Pats fan and I believe they can be beaten. It will take a mistake free near perfect performance to do so and the Cowboys and Colts are, IMO, capable in the playoffs when all teams are fired up to play.
Aikman and Johnson have to remember three important things......One-Pats are a bad matchup with Dallas as their weakness is pass defense which is the Pat's strength, Two-How probable is it that Wade Phillips will outcoach Belichick in a big game, and Three-The Cowboys had the Pats at home and got torched in the last 15-16 minutes of the game. Why would a neutral field help them and what's changed from that game to radically alter the dynamics between the teams?

Aikman is one of the biggest homers in the world. So are most Dallas fans. Somehow, losing to New England by 23 at home means that the Cowboys can hang with the Pats. But beating a Packers team by 10 means that the Cowboys are significantly better than the Packers.
Cowboys fans are delusional. They don't let logic get in the way of their being retarded homers.

Just when I think I've read the stupidest post ever, there you are...You are a wonder...a true moron. There are some people in this world who should be removed. They simply waste oxygen and natural resourses. You are one of those people. Of course we're homers. We're fans. As in "Fanatics". That doesn't keep me from respecting the way the Patriots or Packers are playing right now. "Homerism" is what's great about sports, you giant douche. In your inane and uninformed opinion, what makes Cowboys fans any different than Steelers fans or Niners fans? (Or Yankees, Red Sox or Red Wings fans, for that matter...) I'll tell you what it is. (1) America's Team (2) Most Valuable Sports Franchise (3) Five Super Bowl Wins and a record Eight Conference Championships. (4) Another record, 24 seasons with at least 10 wins. Need I go on? It's cool in some circles to be anti-Cowboys, I see it a lot. When asked who they root for, these asshats reply, "Whoever's playing Dallas." That's real classy there, pal. Instead of having the joy of victory or something to look forward to, they simply root for someone elses failure.
I've been a Cowboys fan since the 60's. Hey, I'm realistic about this season. If anyone told you that Dallas would be 12-1 going into the last 3 weeks, they were the dilusional ones. Everyone thought they were another year away when this thing started. But for anyone to say that they can't beat any other team in the NFL this year, they don't watch football. That includes the Patriots. The Ravens are a mediocre team and would have beaten New England if not for the worst officiating I've seen all year. If Dallas and New England played 10 times, the Patriots might win more than half, that's true. The Pats are almost impossible to stop on offense. So is Dallas...I hope New England is up for the rematch in February. I don't think they'll be there though.
As far as Troy Aikman being a homer, he has a right to be. It's an obligation. He was the quarterback of the best team in NFL history. The early 90's Cowboys would have destroyed the 2007 Patriots, but Troy would never say that.

You were fine there, Tim, till you called the Pats- Ravens officiating 'the worst in history," as then you lost me.
Which call was a bad one in that game? The time out call of Rex Ryan? The false start on Hochstein? The 4th down hold on Watson where the Raven DB held him from the 13 yard line into the end zone? Or Gaffney's TD where he firmly held the ball with both hands moving it into his right arm? The unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on Raven LB Bart Scott for picking up a penalty flag and throwing it into the stands costing his team a kickoff runback opportunity?
I watched the game. Ravens could have had 20 penalties they way they were holding on defense all over the field.
Your points were well taken until your referee comment, which doesn't place yours close to the level of the poster you're criticizing above?

Talk about delusional, Gaffney's fingertips don't equate to a firm grasp of the ball, and he moved the ball to his right arm when he was ALREADY out of bounds.....

Mr Commissioner do we really need any more evidence of the long term effects of concussions on the former NFL player?

#5 Post - Is that Bill Belichick or Parcells?
Ok, I'll lighten up on the officiating in that game. The Cowboys and Pats have both been lucky and good this season. It takes both to get to where they are with one loss between them. But the officials called 13 penalties against Baltimore, four against New England...You do the simple math. The very rare double-unsportsmanlike conduct penalty essentially awarded the game to New England with less than a minute to go. It's just funny to me to see Patriots opponents getting flagged for pass interference, when New England won for years because they were allowed to mug receivers...
As far as the latter post, about the Patriots having all of the "clout & class"...Make no mistake, winning at all costs, running up scores and cheating doesn't give you class or clout. I used to cheer for the Patriots, even being a Dallas fan. Brady is a great story. But Belichick has ruined it for me. They're Mike Tyson, biting the ears of opponents. They're Joe Niekro with a nail file and a piece of sandpaper. They're freakin' Barry Bonds. No more, no less....
I even like dynasties in sports! But Bill Walsh or Chuck Noll or Tom Landry were never arrogant assholes like Belichick. The Pats coach has no more class than Mike Vick, Pacman Jones, Tank Johnson or Chris Henry...He could be the first three-time winner of the Super Bowl to never even sniff the Hall of Fame because he was such a miserable human being. I've always thought Belichick was a prick, all while admiring Bob Kraft and the rest of the organization. He hasn't killed dogs or bet on his team, but he is still a cheating prick with no regard for anyone but himself. His arrogance went completely over the top when that wacko Goodell didn't suspend Belicheat for SpyGate. In NCAA football, cheating is "rewarded" by forfeiting games. In baseball, cheaters are suspended and then banned. In the NFL, cheating franchises and coaches are fined. They keep their scouting reports, their wins, and their dignity. Although years of ill-gained video and notes are confiscated, the commissioner has yet to convince most NFL fans that the Patriots are worthy of a place in the record books without an asterisk (many former NFL players and coaches feel the same). Why would we believe the commissioner? After all, he simply accepted the word of a dishonest, irreverent, and win-at-any-cost coach who assured the league days before that he had broken no rules, and had not gained an advantage from any illegal sideline video surveillance.
Look, I hated to go off on this again, but Patriots fans are by far more obnoxious than any group of people I've ever met in my life. And if Belichick would have pulled this crap in Buffalo or Atlanta or Phoenix, it wouldn't have been swept under the rug in less than a week the way it was. Bonds has an asterisk. Patriots 19-0 record, if it happens, will have an asterisk too.

Tim, Every penalty called on the Ravens was justified--many more could have been called. Name me one at the end of that game that wasn't justified--otherwise you're babbling incoherently.
Tim, It may be funny to you but Bill Polian got the chucking rules changed. Patriots play by the rules, Ravens don't--their philosophy is the refs can't call them all, so keep doing it. If you can't stop laughing give Polian a call. I'll find you his number if you want.
Tim, Belichick doesn't care if you like him or not--he doesn't care if I like him either. All he cares about is winning football games.
Tim, Belichick didn't cheat. He broke league rules taping from the sideline. The taping didn't impact any game played according to Goodell.
Tim, you're more than welcome to put an asterisk next to any Pats accomplishments if it makes you feel better. No one cares.

The Coyboys can't hang with the Pats. As far as Aikmen. What do you expect him to say. The Pats are about to overcome some silly notion that the Cowboys are Americas team.
Ifr it weren't for the trus patriots...There would be no coyboys.

This is one pats fan that agrees with Troy. the cowboys are a good team, and they CAN beat the pats. However, given the use of the word CAN, it undoubtedly means the pats are better. yes, they CAN win. I CAN win the Noble prize for my creative use of chewing gum. I CAN climb Mount Everest. I CAN defeat the heavy champ with one punch. The question is, WILL I?
