Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout! After a couple of meh retread hires, Duke may have found themselves a retread hire with the kinda Q rating that will raise eyebrows not only in the ACC, but nationwide as well. No small feat considering...well, when was the last time you saw Duke play on TV? Do you even know what their uniforms look like these days?That's right, everyone's go-to March Madness punchline Rick Neuheisel is interested in the Duke vacancy that's pulled in the likes of Karl Dorrell, Chan Gailey and Bobby Johnson as of late. And while all of them certainly have their experience with the sort of 5-7 win seasons that Duke would, I dunno, choke out Steve Wojochieowski to obtain, neither of them have the success of Rick Neuheisel...when he's been successful. Really, this would be a good fit, because really- was the tournament pool that bad? Moreover, Duke has the institutional credibility to take a shot at him, at least moreso than SMU (which has been the recipient of interest from Damaged Goods counterpart Gary Barnett)- also a fine academic school, but forever clouded by that whole "death penalty" thing.
And the fans seem to be on board, going to the lengths of making a "Sign Rick Neuheisel" petition. Hopefully this one works out better than the last petition associated with Duke athletics.
