...but probably not. I mean, seriously. The Sporting News is reporting a stunning meeting, at least to Michigan fans bracing for the Brady Hoke era, in Toledo:
Given the way things are going, in two days Rodriguez will publicly scoff at the rumors, declare he wouldn't go to Michigan if they paid him in Adriana Lima clones, and then urinate on a picture of Bo Schembechler, but hey... that sounds like a fun press conference. There's a new twist in Michigan's ongoing search for a head coach: University officials are meeting with West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez, according to Sporting News Radio correspondent Michael Bradley.
Rodriguez and his agent are in Toledo today to negotiate with Michigan athletic director Bill Martin and university president Mary Sue Coleman.
A successful Michigan-Rodriguez courting would be awesome for so many reasons, the foremost of which would be Morgantown's undying hatred for the University of Michigan for poaching both of their coaches within a year of each other. The schools should immediately sign up for series in both basketball and football. But this won't happen. It just won't.

1. Mallett HAS shown a keen ability to run the spread offense.
Oh wait... is "tripping over sized feet while flailing the ball into the air" a play in the spread offense?

2. Michigan should try to hire that chump at BAMA. He will jump like a frog if the price is right. Michigan coaches will have it made because they are always over hyped and over rated. loose 5 games and you still end up rated in the top ten. Loose to an Appalachian State and you make a faster return to the top ten than a speeding bullet. You automatically become ESPN'S bitch and win or loose you will allways be called a genious

3. Don't do this Michigan. Seriously. Just don't. Did you not see the Pitt game? Zero halftime adjustments, as usual. No passing game. When his running offense works, it's a beautiful thing. But when it stalls, there's no Plan B. That's it, you lose.

4. Rich Rod is using the same tactic he used with Bama. He is going to get WVU scared and ask for more pay or state of the art equipment and then get what he wants and stay. Going from the up and coming Big East to the Over rated Big 10 would seem like a step down. But then again who knows now days.

5. Taco Rod is trying to hold wvu's feet to the fire for more money and a longer contract. It seems to be a yearly thing for him. He need's to stay in the big least, at least he can get a bowl game with that watered down conference. Now all he has to do is to figure out how to beat such power house's like PITT[?] and South FL. LOL

6. Meeting in Toledo?! What, the Youngstown Holiday Inn was overbooked?
WVU fans think that Rodriguez is not a good coach, but they fail to see he's done a lot to bring WVU from the doldrums of the big east. the big ten is overrated, as is the SEC.

7. Just fire him already, hire Rodriguez fire Millen, and fire Rod again too. Fire them all.

8. Rodriguez is at it again, West Virginia should fire him, and get Terry Bowden. Rodriguez is a wishy-washy coach and his gameplan is getting pretty simple, White run, Slaton run, every 8th play the Fullback gets to run, and then bring in some young freshman and he runs, put 8 men in the box and tell them to stay and you beat WV, remember Pitt, S Florida. I give Rodriguez some credit though, he is 5 and 2 in the Big East. Come on back home Terry, just don't be so wishy-washy when you win a game or two.

9. Rich is the best coach in college football.Have you ever tried to bring great players to West Virginia.Just think at what he could do at Michigan. We do not want to lose him,and WV should do anything it can to keep him.

10. I live in Morgantown and can tell you the consensus now is we don't want him anymore. We ARE NOT a stepping stone university contrary to what past and present coaches may believe, we do play for championships here (insert Pitt joke if necessary). Rodriguez is a small town wv guy who walked on at wvu and now is the head coach and was one win against a 4-8 team from playing for the nat'l title. What more could any coach want. He's got the new, long, lucrative contract. He's got the upgraded facilities. He's got everything he's wanted and I'm telling you guys now if this is a negotiating tool WVU has nothing left to give and won't. Michigan say hello to your new gimmick coach.

11. I think RR is the best thing to ever happen to WVU football. But, if he is "sneaking" away to Michigan like he did last year for Alabama...I say beat it weasel! I would rather be a mid-level respectable program (see Rutgers), with a coach that is honest. RR you should be ashamed of yourself. Student athletes will soon follow you gutless, wormy coaches by sneaking and lying...the whole system of trust is falling to pieces because of your actions. You should be ashamed to lead kids...I'm ashamed for you.

12. Leave Rod...fool us once shame on you...fool us twice shame on us. You are supposed to be a role model for the kids your recruit...would you want them to be as sneaky and wormy as you are...lead by example tough guy.

13. Its time to put the brakes on the Coach Auction every year........how about some NCAA rules that say if you talk to a coach before the season is over including bowl games you forfet two games next season............if you are a coach and you solicit a job before the season is over......you are suspended for a year.........this will allow the kids to play ball without the distractions.

14. Coach Rod through the game with pitt. I went to Glenville and saw how hard he was on the players there. When you watched the pitt game he did not have any emotions or screaming fits. Did he not want to go to the championship game? It was like he had what he wanted in the bag and forgot to bring himself and players to the game. As for going to Michigan, Go! This is to much stress for the players before the big game and this is two years in a row. We don't need to spend more money on him when there is other coaches out there! He has asked the fans to stay after the 3rd quater come dressed in Gold for the "Gold Rush" the fans did their job now its time for Rich Rod, coaches and players to follow through. ITs not the Fans!

15. I think its a shame shoping around after signing a new hefty contract. Mountiee fans will always be Mountiee fans with or without Coach Rod. I thank him for what he has done but if you dont want to be here in WV then head off to Michigan loose to OSU and loose your job in a couple years. You wont have the loyalty at MU like you have had at WVU.
Either way GO EERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16. Go Richy Rod I'm tired of all the threats,
when there is a coaching vacancy. Pitt embarrased
WV. Why not run.

17. Coach Rod is setting a very bad example to the WV fans. Why even sign a new contract with a big raise an all the demands just at the end of one season you sneak around for greener fieldS of money. We should just give him A ONE YEAR CONTRACT AT A TIME SINCE HE SEAMS TO BE GRRREEEEEEEEEDY.The fans here are very loyal an do not need this every year. just playing games with wv to get richer. I would not raise the offer again. He is just lucky we have had a good team to get him to the top ten. He did not catch one pass or run one play. Michigan will fire him after one or two bad years. An I bet the fans there nothing like the mountaineers .we are proud of our team our coach is letting us down.

18. Born, raised, and still living in WV, proud Mountaineer here. Hey I like Michigan. I go sledding in the UP every year. Great state. I think most of the comments are true. We don't want Coach Rod anymore. Loyalty means alot to us. He obviously is not. Thinking of putting a sign in my front yard. "Go you worm!" Michigan fans, the good thing about you guys you are really helping our athletic department. 1.5 million for our basketball coach and another 4 million for Rodriguez. That will buy one heck of a coach. I think he showed his true worth as a coach when he didn't know what to do against Pitt. I am sorry though, if he goes, then I will have to root for The Dam Buckeyes to win. Sorry, nothing personal. Great blog site! Thanks guys!

19. It is time for Rich to go. His coaching errors cost WVU 2 losses in 07...Plus, to get what he gets in the poorest state in the nation is a crime. If he is going to pull this every year he needs to go now. The only reason he is still here is because he is tight with the gov..Get the hell out Rich and don't let the door hit you in the back...

20. "I plan on being at West Virginia the rest of my career," Rodriguez repeatedly stated in an interview with the Wheeling (West Va.) News-Register in a story posted on its Web site last Friday....
