The Word:

Rich Rodriguez Might Be Michigan's Next Coach

...but probably not. I mean, seriously.

The Sporting News is reporting a stunning meeting, at least to Michigan fans bracing for the Brady Hoke era, in Toledo:

There's a new twist in Michigan's ongoing search for a head coach: University officials are meeting with West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez, according to Sporting News Radio correspondent Michael Bradley.

Rodriguez and his agent are in Toledo today to negotiate with Michigan athletic director Bill Martin and university president Mary Sue Coleman.

Given the way things are going, in two days Rodriguez will publicly scoff at the rumors, declare he wouldn't go to Michigan if they paid him in Adriana Lima clones, and then urinate on a picture of Bo Schembechler, but hey... that sounds like a fun press conference.

A successful Michigan-Rodriguez courting would be awesome for so many reasons, the foremost of which would be Morgantown's undying hatred for the University of Michigan for poaching both of their coaches within a year of each other. The schools should immediately sign up for series in both basketball and football. But this won't happen. It just won't.
