It seems that after the latest incident involving guns and Jamaal Tinsley, the Pacers' guard has finally come to his senses. Well, at least a little bit. It's being reported that Tinsley has decided (agreed?) to hire a security guard, in an attempt to insulate himself from the troublemakers that seem to find him whenever he's out for a night on the town.
"It was mine and the team's decision to do it," Tinsley told the Indianapolis Star. "They've been trying to make me do it for the last two years. It's something I needed to do."
The security guard will travel with Tinsley when he's on the road and when he goes out in Indianapolis, the newspaper reported.
This seems like a team-induced decision, doesn't it? This was Tinsley's third "incident" in the last 14 months, and since the Pacers can't realistically tell him what to do in his personal life, they can only try to add an additional layer of protection and hope for the best.
The reality is, a single security guard really isn't going to be able to do much, especially if a situation similar to the most recent one comes up again. The only way Tinsley will cease to be a target is if he stops rolling to clubs in bad neighborhoods dripping with bling. Which, given his track record over the last year-and-a-half, is fairly unlikely.
