Mikki Moore Calls Out Sacramento's Coaches

Mikki Moore and Reggie TheusYour team just won on the road for just the second time in 12 tries -- how do you celebrate? If you're Mikki Moore, it's by calling out the coaching staff. From Sam Amick of the Sacramento Bee (via Sactown Royalty):
"It's nice to get the win, but I expected more from our coaching staff," Moore said. "You can write that, because I told them that on the bench. I said, 'It was nice to get the "W", but I just expected too much of y'all.'"

After tying his career high with 24 points in Philadelphia on Friday, Moore has scored a combined 10 points in the two games since while hitting 4 of 12 shots. He said his recent play has been affected by a finger injury to point guard Beno Udrih.

"Recently it's been like (that) because Beno is hurt," he said. "Beno said he doesn't have feeling in his finger, so he hasn't been aggressive in shooting the ball and that's a part of me getting open. John (Salmons) found me a couple of times open. I forced a jump shot and I hit it, but other than that, there was nothing else."
Wait, I'm confused ... Moore is upset at the coaching staff because ... he can't get open? Shouldn't that be his responsibility? Or is he just ticked off that they haven't come up with a new game plan to take into account Udrih's injury? Whatever it is, he certainly doesn't seem to be standing on solid ground.

It's also interesting that he decided to air his grievances during a trip to New Jersey, which doesn't seem to be a coincidence. As Amick clarified in a blog post this afternoon, he doesn't think Moore has any real rift with the coaching staff but was simply disappointed he didn't have a chance to post better numbers against his former teammates. I can see his point: four points and five rebounds probably didn't make the Nets' front office regret their decision to let him walk.
