Gonzaga's Josh Heytvelt will return tonight as the Bulldogs take on Oklahoma, the school just recently announced. This will be some welcome news for No. 18 Gonzaga, who has been hit pretty hard by injuries this season. Heytvelt has not played for the Bulldogs since February, following his arrest. Heytvelt has had a stress reaction in the right foot, and opted for surgery on Nov. 12 to insert a pin into his foot, instead of resting the injury and putting it in a cast.Gonzaga also has suffered injuries to Matt Bouldin and Jeremy Pargo, two of the keys for the Bulldogs. The team has been leaning on freshman Austin Daye who has relished his opportunity. Freshman Steven Gray also saw his first action of the season on Monday night. So the troops are starting to return.
Tonight is a big game for Gonzaga. Not that Oklahoma is one of the elite teams in college hoops anymore, but they still carry a big name and they come from a BCS conference. (Funny, would Sooners fans rush the court if they win?) So while Gonzaga is ranked and gets some good recognition, they still need to make the most of its opportunities to knock off teams from the alleged power conferences.
