The average American has no clue who Fedor Emelianenko is, and even the average American MMA fan probably only knows who he is from DVDs and Internet videos, not from actually having watched him fight live. But he'll be fighting live on American TV on New Year's Eve:
There are three problems, though:
1. He's fighting a guy named Choi Hong-man, who has only a slightly better chance of beating Fedor than I do.
2. The fight is on HDNet, which most Americans don't have.
3. The show starts at 6 a.m. Eastern on New Year's Eve, which is not exactly a time that a lot of people will be awake and in front of the TV.
I do plan to be awake and in front of the TV, and I'll keep you posted on what kind of show Fedor puts on.

Don't know who Fedor is? Oooooo, America is in for a treat. This Russian doesn't take any prisoners. Brutal as they come. Quick, too. And I don't want to hear any of you talk about how tough Kimbo Slice is. Fedor would slioe up Slice real quick. We who have seen them both know this is true.

Fedor would crush anyone in the UFC, period. ive seen the dude all beat bloody, and still calm as ever. Anyone who can stay that calm right before a fight has definitely got an upperhand. smooth transition game, the best ground and pounder ive ever seen, not to mention takedown defense, and some EXTREMELY hard punches. he'll win.

Fedor has a cold maniacal fury that is rare in most athletes. Calm as a summer breeze before the match, he looks wild as hell to the uninitiated when the fight is in progress. Helluva motor, too. I love Randy Coutour, but he would be overwhelmed by Fedor very quickly. Every punch is a hurtful one. Hard a man as I have ever seen. The only odd thing is that he looks as bored before and during the fight as he does afterward. Never a trace of emotion. Maybe bored isn't the operative word here. Quitely confident would be a better fit here. Too bad Bodog has him under contract.

Fedor is tough.... NO DOUBT but you people DO realize he isn't undefeated.... think I'm wrong ...look it up. Fedor MIGHT be the best heavyweight but there is still room for debate and as long as cares more about where he fights rather than who he fights (that's why he signed with bodog)we'll never really know.

there no doubt that Emelianenko is one bad man. but I there is reason to believe he can be beat again. courture has weathered a few storms before and made it through it, we'll probably never know now. And Emelianenko signed with M-1 global not bodog.

Fedor has been beat before yes but in reality it was stopped because of a cut, Fedor was winning the fight and was unlucky to get cut but he managed to beat Tsuyoshi Kohsaka in the rematch. Anyone who has seen him fight or heard the thud from his punches knows that he is something special and I feel sorry for anyone who has the misfortune to fight him.

1. Hong Man Choi has only a slightly better chance of beating Fedor than you do? Who are you Jerome Le Banner?
I agree Fedor will win this fight, but this Guy Choi is one strong boy too. He's a 7'2" 380lb monster who won K1 fights against Bob Sapp and Semmy Schilt..

Fedor is by far the best MM fighter I've ever seen. His opponent this time, Hong-Man Choi, is a real giant (though an awkward and slow one); he can dominate his oppoenents by sheer size. It would be interesting to see how the great Fedor will tackle him. I will definitely be awake for a match like that. Unfortunately, I don't have cable...Is it on pay view?
