Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs is disputing a report from ESPN saying team owner Daniel Snyder offered Gibbs a two-year contract extension.
Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post reports that Gibbs said he hasn't talked to Snyder about an extension and isn't planning to talk to Snyder about an extension. Gibbs says he plans to return in 2008, which will be the final season of the five-year contract he signed in 2004.
But can Snyder get him to come back for 2009, 2010 or even longer? If Snyder thinks that's what's best for the team, you can bet that he'll back up the Brinks truck to keep Gibbs. Gibbs, however, seems content simply to coach out the contract he signed four years ago.
Then again, maybe a playoff run is what it will take to convince Gibbs that he wants to stay longer than one more year.

1. With destiny in our grasp and a win aid'd camp,
removing all doubt whose the champ,
You will win the chance to remove the flag with the "L",
And replace it with a new name whose the same game to spell,
While climbing the mountains of the windy ridge match,
With your General to the last lifted upon shoulders and wooly cap removed, it is most nessyssary that you should catch,
The fan bug to win one for the play off record to which there is no match,
So take that flag and make them eat sour words,
And show the world talking heads are for the birds,
With this foul speech we'll avenge the day,
All heads are bowed and let us pray!

3. Joe Gibbs is not the beloved Gibbs of old. We need new and younger blood ..he seems to lack the drive and dtermination of yore..our memories of him should have been kept just that..
