It seems most people -- myself included -- were rather quick to finally slam Roger Clemens now that his name surfaced in the Mitchell Report. But for as much as we've reveled in it, we must remember that just because one dude, Brian McNamee, said he shot Clemens in the butt with steroids, it may not be true. In fact, in the court of law, it would be pretty tough to nail Clemens without some more concrete evidence. So it is perhaps within that thread of logic that Clemens' lawyers are launching their own investigation into Clemens' reported steroid use. From the New York Times:
"We are convinced the conclusions in Mitchell's report are wrong and are investigating the findings ourselves," Hardin said in a telephone interview. "At this stage we have uncovered a lot of logical people who we thought Mitchell was going to talk to but never talked to him or his investigators. That's troubling."Well, perhaps the reason these "logical" people weren't talked to is because NOBODY would meet with Mitchell while he was conducting his investigation, including their client, one Mr. Roger Clemens. I have no clue if they're actually going to follow through on this or if anyone is going to take their findings with any salt of validity, but hey, Roger is certainly fighting this rather hard all of a sudden.
Hardin would not name any of those individuals, but he said that they would have been very helpful to Mitchell about whether to publish the allegations about Roger, he said.

Mr Mitchell needs to review the old adage about people who live in glass houses and stone-throwing..
I have made it my mission to point out..
(as an Oriole fan who has seen my team get hammered when most of the players on the list were cup of coffee players who played the majority of their careers with other teams)
to point out the hipocrisy coming from Mitchell, Boston, and their home team Federal Prosecutors..
who have covered up and played down the only bonafide Police involved incident where a Red Sox Clubhouse employee in a traffic stop was found to be in the possession of both Steroids and Syringes andis just a mere footnote in the "Red Sox Report" on doping and drug use in Major League Baseball.
The entire team that year should still be
subjected to scrutiny..their trainer..the Gen Mgr..Peter Gammons and the entire pool of beat Reporters should have been lined up..made to hire lawyers and in all fairness be compelled to submit the same type of innuendo and opinion that Jose Canseco and Mitchell have gotten so much mileage from.
Or at least we should now hear something more about the club employed perp..with the roids..or else Boston should shut up about Clemens and whoever else is on their radar

or how about the Mitchell report connection with the gratuitous release of information regarding Cleveland's Paul Byrd with their Red Sox facing elimination in the ACLS?
how under Mitchell's charge sensitive information and false reports were released in a self serving manner to ESPN aiding the Red Sox by causing a distraction just when they desperately needed one..
the level of integrity in all NE Sports has become on par with their Politics..vital to the point of myth creation

terpsez11, I am sorry about the fact that you are an Oriole fan. But Jesus, what a rant. And you didn't even mention the Celtics, Bruins, BC, or the Tea Party. Can you say jealousy. Just because the last time the Orioles did anything, Brooks Robinson was at the hot corner, and your football team snuck out of town 20 years ago, and won a Super Bowl, that's no reason to blame Boston. But I do understand your frustration. When Washington, for God's sake, can field a better baseball team than Baltimore, it time to blame someone, anyone.

thanks for the response being ignorant about Baltimore's success in the 80's and 90's is expected from fans that cannot answer with any truth
to the question...
then again you guys were in a century-long fetal position when the Orioles dominated Baseball and had the only winning record against the NY Yankees who this report has slandered more than Baltimore..
I didn't expect an answer from the Red Sox..because few have even read the report and will not since it was written to protect them from the same scrutiny..

I did'nt like Clemens when he was here in Boston,he was a baby and a premadonna. However, he did not use steriods. He is a guy bred in farm country and was a race horse from birth he didnt need any of that crap.

I agree with Keith - Clemens is kind of a prima donna, I met him in Boston back in the late 80's, he's not exactly "approachable" with his fans. But, it's always been my opinion that he's a man of integrity, and he has worked hard to achieve excellence and it is my belief that his "training" did not include the use of steroids.
