Why are the New York Giants 7-1 on the road, but only 3-4 at home? Well, if you ask running back
Brandon Jacobs, he may suggest it has a little
something to do with the fans -- something that has been exaggerated by them
pawning their tickets to Patriots fans.
"That's probably one of the reasons why we are better on the road than we are at home," said Jacobs. "If it is that way and they got more fans, then so be it."
But Jacobs wasn't the only Giant with soup grapes yesterday. Reserve defensive end
Justin Tuck also expressed his displeasure with the '
fans.'
"It might be a road atmosphere for us. I heard people are selling tickets now. Who knows? We might have more Patriots fans than Giants. We'll see what happens...It absolutely does (bother me). Because this is our stadium, that's as simple as it gets. I don't care if they are going for a record and they want to see history. I heard they're going for about $1,600, that's a good price. I don't agree with it. This is Giants Stadium and I don't want to see a whole Patriots clan out-weighting the Giants fans. Don't sell their tickets and Patriots fans, if they want to see the game, order the NFL Network," Tuck said.
This shouldn't come as much of a surprise -- the Giants have been down on their fans for the last
two years. But either way, this whole situation still has to sting. Hopefully the Giants can exact some revenge by beating the New England Patriots on Saturday night while their season ticket holders are at home on the couch instead of in attendance.

As to the Gints extracting some revenge by beating the Patriots - as a fan I freely admit my team doesn't have a prayer of winning - but I do think they can give the Pats a run for their money !!
You can look at the season ticket holders selling out to the Pats fans a number of ways. I prefer to view it as the Giants fans having some class - and allowing the Pats fans to see their team make history in person - perhaps a little opportunism thrown in as well - can't blame anybody for that. As to the players crying about the fans - one simple solution - WIN SOME HOME GAMES !!!

Glenn - If Giants fans were all about being classy, then they'd sell the tickets to Pats fans at face value ... or give them away. They are doing neither.
Secondly, part of winning at home comes from having home field advantage -- something the Giants don't have.
Do you go to Giants games? In my many years of attending Giants games, I've been told "sit down" or "hush up" more times than I've been told "Get up and get loud!" And trust me, that's not a good thing.
The loudest the fans have gotten over the last two years is when they boo their own team.

Dan........First of all this Giant team has no chance to beat NE at full strength. The real Giant fans know this. Second of all the Giants should go at this game full strength and try their best to give them a game and think that they can beat them. Third ...real Giant fans know that the way the Giants are set up, they will go out first round or maybe second and they know that they don't have a superbowl bound team...(be real). ok...that doesn't mean that they should go just to boo or try to make cash on their tkts. I actually think that their might be more NE fans there than NY fans...which would be great to see their team win #16. Dan we Giant fans study this team before, during and after the season is over. Our anger goes deeper than the last home game. Jacobs can't act down or depressed. He is a true Pro and we all respect that, but it goes deeper than that. It starts with ???.Coughlin?..Manning?...wide rcvrs?...def backs?.Reese?..we are not structured for a championship run Dan and real Giant fans know and feel this. Thats why we are angry and annoyed!!!!

It is a meaningless game for the Giants. I see no problem with the fans selling tickets and making a profit. It might as well be a preseason game.
As for Jacobs comments the fans have nothing to do with the Giants struggling at home. That is the weakest excuse I have ever heard. If the players want the crowd to get into it then they shouldn't fall behind by 3 scores every home game.

John - Apparently there are different versions of real fans.
Real fans know anyone can win on any given Sunday. Real fans stick by their team and root for them whether they are 2-14 or 14-2.
Real fans, my friend, do not let THEIR stadium become infested with outsiders.
If the Cowboys were 15-0 coming into NJ on Saturday, would everyone share the same feelings on selling out for profit?
And finally, this is the problem with some Giants fans ... the team is 10-5! They're not 5-10, they're not missing the playoffs for the third year in a row. They are winning, going to the playoffs for the third consecutive time and slowly but surely, they are getting healthy at the right time.
And just to play Devil's Advocate ... if the team is SO bad and not going to win in the playoffs, wouldn't WANT them to go full strength in hopes of upsetting the Pats. Since, according to your logic, that would be their Super Bowl.
REAL fans have faith.

I don't know the details of Jacob's and Tuck's contracts, but they better take less than market to stay in NYC, or they are hypocrites. That said, I wouldn't want to sell tickets to an opposing team's fans.

Dan,
Two-way street. I AM one of those real "Fans," and though I don't have season tickets, I went to 2 games this year (Niners and Eagles, so I'm a good luck charm, hehe). There's no getting around the fact that our QB is ranked about 21 or 22 in the league, our defensive backs aren't very good and our coaches are predictable. We're not built to win the Super Bowl.
But, will I watch? Will I hope? Will I pray? You bet!! And I'm gonna root and cheer till the 60th minute is over? Yes. But only during games that count. If we win 60-0, and get knocked out in round 1, yeah we'll have made history. More likely, we rest starters in this game and lose in round 1, we've wasted our time (and it wouldn't be the first time). This game means nothing to the Giants and everything to the Pats.
Real fans know we're gonna mail this one in (not initially, but as the game goes on) to get some well-needed rest for Burress, Jacobs, Toomer, and honestly, even Manning. Why not sell tickets and make a small fortune on an otherwise meaningless game?

I agreed with you on the tkt selling...I don't believe they should've done it. I also see where you must get your pom-poms out and skirt your way to rah-rah land...win or lose. Dan the problem isn't 10-5..its the way they are strucured for the playoff run and next year. When the Cowboys needed game in the second half against NY...who did they go yo...Owens right? when the Redskins needed game they went to Moss...the Giant db's couldn't cover McNabs mom...while she was eating soup....God knows how many yards R Moss will have....MY main point Dan isn't fan based...its team structure...its consistancy. Its Manning...no recievers and no secondary Dan....CONSISTANCY!!!!!I also have a problem with Reese....but I will give him 1 more season...and finally Dan...YES I want them to win...(I'm a realist)
