In an odd story, first reported by the Baltimore sports blog The Nest, a Baltimore Ravens player has been charged with assaulting a former Ravens player. Although few details are available, a search of the District Court of Maryland web site reveals that Ravens safety Gerome Sapp was issued a summons and has a trial date scheduled for Feb. 8, which also happens to be Sapp's 27th birthday. The charge is assault-second degree, and the incident allegedly took place on Dec. 29, the same day that Sapp was placed on injured reserve.
The District Court of Maryland web site also lists as the complainant a Joseph M. Maese. Joe Maese, a long snapper, played for the Ravens for four seasons.
No information about exactly what happened is available.

2. Sapp is a nice kid. Don't know much about the former Raven player that is supposedly playing Arena football now. But before judgements are made, things are not always what the media beefs it up to be. Another challenge that professional players have to contend with in addition to money seekers. Feel Sapp's innocence will prevail on his 27th b-day.

4. I know Gerome Personally. He's a Notre Dame guy, mild mannered, and a perfect gentleman. This is the media looking for something on a slow news day. I'll wait to see what comes of this. All things aren't what they seem.
