With only 12 teams remaining in the hunt, the betting web site www.BodogLife.com has released its odds to win the Super Bowl. And although I wasn't surprised to see that the Tennessee Titans have the longest odds, I was surprised at just how long those odds are: 100-1.I'm not a big fan of making 100-1 bets, although I do believe that if anyone ever gives you 10,000-1 odds on anything, you take it, which is why if John Mellencamp ever wins an Oscar, I'm going to be very rich. But the Titans aren't a terrible bet at 100-1, in my view.
For starters, when defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is healthy, the Titans have the best defense in the NFL. Haynesworth isn't quite 100 percent right now, but he'll be a go in the playoffs. That means they should keep games close. Furthermore, Jeff Fisher is the kind of coach I could see getting his team up to pull off a monster upset. And although Vince Young was not a good quarterback this year, you never know when he's going to run wild -- or get benched for Kerry Collins, who played surprisingly well this year.
Do I think the Titans are going to win the Super Bowl? No. I don't even think they're going to beat the Chargers Sunday. But at 100-1, they're not a bad bet.
After the jump, the full odds to win the Super Bowl.
Odds to Win the Super Bowl
New England Patriots 2/5
Indianapolis Colts 4/1
Dallas Cowboys 6/1
San Diego Chargers 8/1
Green Bay Packers 10/1
Jacksonville Jaguars 10/1
Pittsburgh Steelers 35/1
Seattle Seahawks 40/1
Washington Redskins 50/1
New York Giants 60/1
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 65/1
Tennessee Titans 100/1

If you really wanted to gamble on Tenn to win it all, you could very likely make more money by taking the money line on each Tenn playoff game and letting it ride with each win.
For example, let's say you have 10 bux that you want to risk on the Titans. Tenn is on average, around +400 against SD. If they win, you collect 50 dollars (40 profit, plus you get your original 10 back). They'll then play at New England, where I think a +600 money line is a reasonable estimate, but just to be ultra-conservative, let's say they're at +500. Your 50 dollars turn into 300 total (250 profit, plus 50 rebate). Assuming form holds, they'll go on to play at Indianapolis. If the line is +240 or better, then you'll already be at over $1000 total, or just over 100/1 on your original 10 dollars, and the Titans haven't even won the Super Bowl yet.
And even if there are a few upsets so that it's Pit/Jax in the AFC championship game and then a lesser NFC team in the Super Bowl, the back to back wins at SD and at NE would have given you such a nice headstart on your bankroll that getting over 100/1 is still very likely.
So even tho 100-1 looks like a reasonable payout for Tennessee, it's really less than what the sportsbooks should be offering. Just another example of how the bookmakers find extra ways to skim profits wherever they can.
You'd think it would make me stop gambling, but of course, it doesn't.

Pretty bizarre stuff here.
Jags are 4/1 to win the AFC and Chargers are 7/1. But the Chargers are 8/1 to win the Super Bowl and the Jags are 10/1. How can the Chargers by 7/1 to win the AFC and then only 8/1 to win the SB?

holy crap.... 2/5 for the pat with 11 other teams... obviously Vegas doesn't want u to bet on pats or they're like swallowing belichick and brady's nut
jesus...... 2/5 ....... in the illustrious words of dennis green "why dont you just crown their asses"
I think the titans is a good bet if u dont go over $20, but for big ticket bets, i would take indy or jacksonville.... geez.....i would've thought 1/1 would've been a little outrageous.....but 2/5....c'mon.... ppl get injured, anything can happen.... if it's, 2/5 now, what happens at the the super bowl????? 1/20?????

If they play the Colts I'll take the odds. We all know the Colts will take a dive.
