Mike Tomlin admits he isn't perfect, even if hindsight has perfect vision. So if he could do it over again,
he wouldn't have allowed a curious quarterback sweep on third and six with the Steelers needing two first downs to hold off the Jaguars. But that's about the only thing from Saturday's game that he's willing to take back.
"In hindsight, if you had it to do over, yes you would love to do that," Tomlin said, "because the result of the play that we choose was not the result we were looking for. We weren't successful."
But even if everyone and their brother thought it was crazy to go for a two-point conversion once the Steelers got pushed back to the 12, Tomlin would do it again.
"Yes, I'd do it again. I throw caution to the wind. I play to win."
It's encouraging to see that Tomlin knows that he'll sometimes make the wrong decision and he needs to learn from it, even if it's still hard to figure out his thinking on the two-point conversion.

Tomlin completely contradicts himself. He most certainly did not 'play to win' nor 'throw caution to the wind' when he allowed that dreadful QB run on 3rd and 6!

he knew the steelers couldn't run against jacksonville so on 1st , 2nd , or 3rd down we should've passed short yardage pass plays were what kept us in the game, I think Tomlin is gonna be the downfall of the team, he's not a motivator, you can watch him on the sideline when special teams players all but walk down the feild on kick off and he says nothing , COWHER would've been in their asses. DON'T LIKE TOMLIN !!!!!

Not only were those play call terrible, but you would have to be insane to go for a two point conversion from the 12 yard line, what an embarrassment that should be to your loser organization. Think about it for a second, that was such a stupid call....as the whole country was watching, they were laughing at you. Grab a couch and watch some football people, there is plenty of football left.

Tomlin is a High School Level Head Coach period. He may be a good NFL DB coach, but as a head coach he is in way over his head.
He got taken to school so often this season it's embarrassing. Wiz really made the point when they played the Cardinals.
I don't look forward to the next couple of years, when the Rooney's again let their best players leave because they won't write the check. Cowher was able to keep the team competitive when it happened. That is something I doubt Tomlin will be able to do. It looks like the return of the Pre-Noll days.

I'm a little pissed about the offensive decisions made all year and the playoff game put the icing on the cake. When hired, I was very leary about Tomlin, but the guy seems like he should fit in. He did a good job, not great, but good for his first year.
He has his work cut out for him. i.e. Bring Ben down a peg or two so he stops forcing plays which cause turnovers. Building a line, kicking special teams,
I see Pgh slipping for the next couple years but a usual we will be right back as contenders. Another year close observance of his OC maybe a few coaching changes next year and bingo. We will knock Cleveland away from the AFC north champions, because they will be for the next few year.
Love the fact that he is a 4th down "go for it" coach COWHER the Coward wasn't but cowher was a great coach otherwise.
Man I can hardly wait to be personally attacked for this view point from my groupies on here.

Yea Bill, it would be real easy to tell you how retarded that post is. But instead, why don't you explain why you think the Browns will win the North for the next few years. How does your great football mind come up with that one?

I've been watching the dawwgs grow patiently for the last few years. They seem to have worked out their kinks and have solidified their team. Didn't expect them to play as well as they did this year and that falls on Cinci and balt sliding down so bad.
The browns have a solid "off" and "D" good coaching staff and well this years record speaks for itself doesn't it.
Take into the fact that our line is horrible, and a line can't be repaired in one season, Fanaca is probably gone, our coverage is mediocore at best we have a suckky OC we are probably facing a differnt defensive scheme but at least our line backer pos are solid. Special teams (kick) needs a lot of work......
With all that I see the dawgs climbing to the top of the div and us chasing them. Balt and cinc need years to rebuild and it will fall on Cleveland and pittsburgh to keeep the AFC north as the toughest damn div in the NFL
Hammer away!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill, just what about the Browns D is solid? They ranked 32nd. Out of 32 teams. So I guess that makes everyone else solid. I am guessing that solid D will have to improve next year.

yeah my bust solid off and capable d (had to give ya something to call me stupid about) but they fired their defensive coord and with their offensive woes corrected they can draft a good d this year--- trust me crennel will.
Thought they may give up anderson to play quinn but seems like anderson is staying
Watch what they acquire from free agency defensively and their draft.
I would say they have an easier decision where to concentrate on building than we do; (focus on the line? defensive backs? a good 3rd down back that pgh is used to?) Glad I'm not Tomlin
I was Tomlin for 5 seconds so I could fire Arians but We'll see how his 2nd season goes, hopefully he surprises us.
Hammer me!!!!!!!!

Going for it on the twelve doesn't have anything to do with playing to win. It's just stupid. And the only reason that the chart says to go for two in that situation is so you can tie the game with a fieldgoal. Playing to win is kicking the extra point because you know your team will score another touchdown. Which is what happened. And we didn't win because we didn't have the extra point.
And the second stupidest mistake Tomlin made but doesn't seem to realize is not playing the best free safety who was healthy. I'm almost positive Anthony Smith would have made at least one of the two game-changing tackles Tyrone Carter missed.

Will you guys get off Tomlins back about those two point conversions. IT WAS THE RIGHT CALL AT THE TIME. In fact it was the only call that made sense. You guys are so pathetic with that stuff. If we go for the 1 point, and the Jags maintained possession, ran the clock out and kick a field goal at the end to beat us by 1 point, then you would all be complaining about not going for two.
Since you could not possibly know how the game will transpire over the last few minutes, you have got to call the game according to what you know at the time. Which was we are up by a point. an extra point try puts us up by 2, and a successful two point conversion puts us up by 3, and a field goal by the Jags only ties the game. I would hope that Tomlin would do it again if presented with the opportunity and knowing the same information.

SteelcityTom: And you would be right next to Tomlin watching the games in the post season again. You sound like a nice cheerleader, however the Steelers don't use cheerleaders, they need knowledgable coaches who understand FOOTBALL. Tomlin's an Idiot. No coach goes for 2 from the 12. No coach OK's a QB sweep from their own 20 needing 6 for a first down when you can throw at will. And NO coach will say he's a better coach the second half of a season when he lost more games the second half, than he did the first half. Lastly; no coach will bring back ALL the same coaches after falling apart in too many games that should have been won.

I think perhaps Tomlin stole a play from Dallas and called a " 60 stretch faaaaarlahhhhhhhh" on the 3rd and 6. At least it looked that way to me.

Maybe you should get out instead of remaining a "groupie" of mine. Seems all you can do is follow me around attempting to insult me.
Are you on here to bring comments about teams in the NFL or are you just in awe over me? The only posts I see you make are about mine. Groupie
