This rumor burst out there to surprisingly little fanfare Friday, that Chicago and Houston might be talking turkey on a
Tracy McGrady trade. The
Chicago Sun-Times threw it out there, claiming "some reports" had talks underway. ESPN's Marc Stein reported
the following this morning.
The Bulls and Rockets have indeed had what one plugged-in source describes as "exploratory" McGrady talks, but word is Chicago isn't convinced that T-Mac is the franchise player it's been lacking since Michael Jordan retired.
Jordan is irrelevant; Chicago wouldn't dismiss a McGrady deal because McGrady isn't a big enough star, they'd dismiss it because Houston'd be asking for too much. For the Texan perspective, the
Houston Chronicle's Jerome Solomon
laughs off the rumors.
General manager Daryl Morey hasn't fielded any phone calls about McGrady and certainly hasn't made any.
Teams are obviously exceedingly coy about their role in trade rumors, and it seems certain
John Paxson has
learned his lesson about keeping things excessively quiet. When you consider Houston's plight and the fact the Bulls have already rampantly pursued a high-usage two-guard but couldn't come up with a plush enough package... it makes sense, no?

1. TRADE HIM PLEASE.....T Mac is a nice guy and a great person....BUT, The Rox always play better without him, odd, but they seem to do so and he spends way to much time on the DL. If there is a team out there dumb enough to give up the slightes bit of talent for him we should take it and run.....
