Relationships between NBA stars and the women they But yes, Dwight has a baby son, who was born in November. His name is Braylon. His mother is former Magic dancer Royce Reed. Reed's mum, a proud grandmother, says the pregnancy was not planned. Dwight acknowledged his son to Orlando Sentinel reporters Brian Schmitz and Tim Potvak, but kept everything else under wraps, citing privacy. A cynic would say Dwight's a bit upset this is getting out, given his (self-created) image.
I really do not come to cast aspersions; this is just clearly bizarre and surprising. Before too many holier-than-Dwight anti-NBA screeds are penned, I'll note the vast double-standard: NBA players are demonized for their mistakes, whereas the protagonist in something like Knocked Up or Juno is made into a hero. This type of thing happens in our world, and it's been happening for a long time. Cast not the first stone, I suppose.

In my experience, the ones who go around preaching morality are the ones who wind up with their a.s in a sling later when their hypocrisy reveals itself.

As long as baby Braylon is in a loving, caring environment, who cares if he was born out of wedlock?! With that being almost the "norm" in today's society, and there being so many other obstacles for our children to overcome, why is THAT the focus? I understand the moral aspects, and the "so-called" image that is expected of Howard, but as long as the man is doing right by his child, then leave all of them alone!

Hypocrites should never be let off easily.
It's a shame you can't see that, TZ.

It is important to remember that having moral values and expectations does not connote perfection. Dwight is human and all humans make mistakes. We are also very complex creatures whereby we can desire to behave one way and other internal forces influence us to do something different. This fallibility and complexity is all a part of human nature. So, the tone of the article is perplexing. It appears our society would rather a person be "value-free" and then his or her "misbehavior" can be understood. How about we take a deep look at ourselves and focus on the many inconsistencies we find inside and
choose to hold our stones. In essence, it is complexity not hypocrisy that appears to have led Dwight into fatherhood.

Well, she definitely has a look that these guys lose their minds over. I guess she weakens even a "moral" guy like Dwight.

And from her writings, she's recently "saved". So she gets saved *after* conceiving with the millionaire athlete. Convenient.

Everytime someone makes a mistakes they are the one who are in the wrong. We all understand that he created an image of a good christian; but we all make mistakes. If we dont then we are not considered human. Im tired of people saying hyprocite this and hyprocite that. God is a God of forgivness, and he has already forgave Dwight for his actions. Out of all of this, God has blessed him with a beautiful son. Dwight keep your head up, keep praying, and keep putting God first. You will be alright.Good luck!

I have been a Magic fan since I was 7 and have been to nearly every game. I have seen them go from "super star" to "the next big thing" and more often that that an awful team. Dwight Howard is the best thing to happen to this team in a VERY long time. I only hope that it will make Orlando wake up and realize we have an NBA team and we should support them! If you like the game for Basketball and not scandal then leave him alone. He isn't killing/fighting dogs, smacking female cops, or participating in shootouts. He had a son, OH NO! Everyone is human, no matter what their religion, and I am sure his strong faith will help him to get through all the ridiculous comments and be an excellent Father.

There was only one perfect man and they crucified him. Dwight is only human and humans make mistake.
Hs has owned up to his son andI know He will see that he is provided for. God has forgiven him and the rest should do and move on. God bless Dwight and his family!
