Chris Mortensen has a story up at ESPN.com in which Colts coach Tony Dungy disputes the Pro Football Talk report that we mentioned earlier about Dungy planning to retire.
But while it's interesting to know that Dungy says he hasn't yet made up his mind about whether he's going to coach the Colts in 2008, I was most interested in one specific quote in Mortensen's story:
"I have more respect for him than any other coach," said kicker Adam Vinatieri, who owns four Super Bowl rings. "Selfishly, I'd like to have him back. If he goes, I'll give him a hug and wish him well."Vinatieri, of course, also played for Bill Belichick when he was on the Patriots. On behalf of Belichick, I think Patriots safety Rodney Harrison is feeling disrespected right now.

Belichick isn't even in the same class as Dungy when it comes to respect. Dungy is a class act and an asset to the NFL. I hope he stays but if he goes I wish him the best in whatever path he takes. But please please don't even mention Belichick in same sentence as Dungy.

In addition, both men are deeply religious. It's not surprising that the two would have more in common and that Vinatieri would see more to respect in Dungy than in Bells.

Yes, the Colts are soooooo classy that they employ the zebras to insure victory. No one can prove it, but Dungy is head of the referee's commitee (how convenient). Have you noticed how all zebra flags are for these little prancing ponies? Oh don't pay attention to the skipping crowd noise during a game, we'll have CBS cover our hoofprints on that one. I almost think Tony Dungheap is classy, if I were born yesterday maybe. You can't fool me, every team cheats and so do your precious Colts. Suck a big juicy fat one Pats haters!!!

I don't think they'll (Dungy and Bellicheck) be mentioned in the same sentence too often. Maybe when talking about rivals there will be sentences structured like this one:
"During the rivalry years between the Patriots and the Colts, Bellicheck usually kicked Dungy's ass."
Ya that, that will probably be the most likely scenario for when they'll be mentioned in the same sentence.

Dungy being the so called classiest guy in the NFL did not help him with his son's suicide. His is so honored, yet he failed at his most important job in life, his family.
No one talks about that.

I know that Dungy is a "great guy". But how many times has his superior team lost to an inferior opponet in the playoffs? He seems like an excellent regular season coach, but his plsyoff record isn't so hot. With the talent he had in his years with Indy, is one championship considered a success?

I know Bill is a better coach, but bringing up Tony's son is just WRONG! I am a Patriots fan, but that should have been left out of this blog.
Chris, you're an IDIOT! That was a cheap shot, and should not have even been brought up. Tony is a great coach. Unortunately, life throws a few curves, and you can't hit them all. If you should find alot of time, try to get a life.

I really can't say when I have read a more ignorant statement than Chris's above. Read a book, Chris, and open your mind. Not to mention, try a little compassion on and add a little class to your act. Yuck! What a dsiaster!
