Details of Rich Rodriguez's new contract at the University of Michigan have finally been released, even though the contract has yet to be finalized or signed. The deal is for six years and will pay Rodriguez $2.5 million per season, with possible bonuses coming should Michigan win a national title ($300,000) or make a BCS game ($200,000).Of course, the thing most people want to know about in the deal is the buyout clause. Obviously there is one, and much like the one Rodriguez apparently is yet to pay back to West Virginia, it's for $4 million dollars.
The contract, which has not been finalized or signed, also includes a $4 million buyout. The terms of Rodriguez's deal were confirmed Sunday by school spokesman Bruce Madej.Though I doubt Rich is all that concerned about the buyout right now. He's probably more preoccupied with the fact that Terrelle Pryor is currently being wooed pretty hard by Ohio State right now, who may or may not be using some unfair advantages to land the quarterback.
Rodriguez's buyout decreases by $500,000 in each year of the deal.

Michigan, beware! This guy has pulled out all the stops to try to get out of paying the buyout in his contract with WVU. If he succeeds, the buyout in his contract with you is worthless. You'd probably be better of just making him an at will employee with no contract so you can release him with no penalty if he doesn't perform. It seems that contracts only benefit the coach and not the University.
