From Steve Luhm of the Salt Lake Tribune, writing about Monday's Jazz-Clippers tilt in LA in his blog:
Speaking of [Mehmet] Okur, I'm wondering if I saw what I think I saw. With about four minutes left in the third quarter and the Jazz's lead down to 66-62, Okur went to the bench and -- unless I'm mistaken -- threw a one-finger salute over his shoulder, presumably at a heckling fan.Turns out that several fans did notice, including one fan who posted a link to the video above in the comments on Luhm's blog. It's unclear who Okur was directing that to, but if I had to guess it seems like it's someone on the court, not a fan behind him. Either way, I'd expect Mr. Stern will be deducting a moderate amount of money from Okur's paycheck this week.
The TV folks did not say anything and there was no replay -- surprise, surprise. I'm just wondering if any of you saw the same thing, or whether I owe Mr. Okur an apology for my worsening nearsightedness.
