It wasn't that long ago that we -- a threatened nation -- put our support behind a ragtag Patriots team to beat the Rams in the Super Bowl. Now? Not so much. Something has changed. Is it them? Or is it you?
We've never seen a 19-0 Super Bowl champion, likewise, we've never seen an 18-0 juggernaut fall in the Super Bowl. And yet it seems the general public has chosen which version they want to see. But delve a little deeper into those psyches, Pats haters, and let's see if we can figure out the true pathologies. If you hate the Patriots, we have a question for you.

2. yawn. let's beat this dead horse a little more, shall we? must be a slow news day

3. I love God #1, my beautiful wife a very close #2, the Angels #3, Tom #4, and Bill #5. The Patriots will have a good showing in the Superbowl, and I fully expect a victory. The game will be a good one, but not the distance that the point spread has them at. Teddy will be my guy for the day, and Junior will play well, as I anticipate.
P.S. Mom and dad come in the same, at #s 2.1
P.P.S. Sorcere is coming in at #6

4. When the Pats won our hearts, they came up unexpectedly to win. Now they dominate by cheating, by taking every advantage, whether legal, sporting, decent, or not. So they stand only for winning at any cost. Not for any other ideal. So it's like rooting for Tony Soprano -- without the charming personality or the angst.

5. I'm a Pat's hater-hater. Gotta love a team that reduces opponent's fans to whining about "dirty" play and of cheating.
I guess that's all they can do to justify being on the losing end of the most dominant team in NFL history. The record proves it. The stats prove it. The whining proves it.

6. Crap is crap is crap is crap.Another blogger who can only keep his name out there by this kind of junk.I will now add Mantzouranis to my list with Ryan Wilson who have little integrety and lack skills when it comes to being a blogger. Neither of these men (yea right) have ever stood up and said the obvious and that is that while the coach of the Patriots did indeed cheat this has nothing to do with the players on the field.Neither of you and many others have the skill to recognize the difference so you write a story that feeds into the slugs of life that just want to hate because its easier than thinking. As far as Shula is concerned ...this is a man that got caught up in his own little problem with the league and lost monies and 1st rounder...Who the hell is he to make any comments ...the man should be ashamed of himself but when you sell your soul I guess you have no soul left.To me he is like the gun dealer that sells a gun knowing that it will be used to kill some and then condemns the killer for the act.Don't bother to write me your negative crap because at this point when it comes to the Patriots I don't care what some of you think because you all think with TUNNEL VISION.

7. dont get why everyone's hatin on brady...he's the nicest guy in the world. hasnt let success get to his head, is well grounded, polite, respectful, and a tough competitor. is it because he has it all?? isnt that the American dream? would'nt we all trade places with him tomorrow? it's jealousy, nothing more. And as for Belechick,he's not paid to be charming...he's paid to win. He hates the media and I dont blame him, because all they want to do is bait him.

8. The whole Belichik-media relationship is actually fun to watch. In eight years, his answers have never changed. He nevers speaks ill of a player, whether thay are a Pat or an opponent. He praises the opponent in the prior game as well as the upcoming game. He never discusses an injury. He never speaks of anything beyond the upcoming game.
I can't believe anyone can try to make a story when any of those topics are discussed, and he answers them the same way he has for eight years. Actually, it would be newsworthy if he gave a different answer.
As a Pat fan, I find his interviews interesting. You sit and wait for a different answer. But, Bill delivers consistently. It is clear how and why the Pats are able to maintain focus as they have one game at a time for seven seasons in a row. Outstanding!
My only thought is why do writers expect him to give a different answer? Maybe Belichick is right, the writers are just too dumb to command any respect.

9. Gotta hate Brady.

10. Perhaps what really lies at the heart of this hatred is the very idea that after September 11, 2001, someone in the NFL decided that we needed a "hero". Instead of allowing one to rise naturally, and giving us a real feelgood story, they decided to manufacture one, WWF style.
After the smoke and terror of the attacks had settled down and the season became more about football, a team going nowhere from an original American city, suddenly gets hot. We get to hear about the three players who lost family members, as if only New England players suffered in this manner.
They advanced in the playoffs after an extremely contoversial play against the Oakland Raiders, and in the super bowl became Luke Skywalker to St. Louis' Darth Vader. We don't mind this story line in "Rasslin'" but want our football to be a little more believable.
The NFL ignored this fact and repeated this tired storyline a number of times over the last few years and no one is impressed.

11. You know i love the haters proving the greeen eyed monster lurks only in the hearts of few. Funny how the haters are the only ones with TUNNEL VISION. look deeper. Did you see Mike strahan on T.V. responding to the are the Pat's are dirty players question. Yep you know what he said " If someone messes with me I'll step on there neck to. It happens all the time at the line, under the pile. WOW that is classy to bad some fans on both sides cann't act like the players on the teams they route for. They seem to like to point fingers and cry alot remember either way Feb 3 the best team will win. Go patriots.

12. Once again, the battle tested SEC QB steps up in the clutch. And the Big game SEC RB seals the win. Best Conference in College Football.

13. Manufactured?
Three SB's in 4 years.
Five times in the AFC championship.
Another trip to the SB.
The two longest streaks in NFL history.
THE TWO LONGEST STREAKS IN NFL HISTORY.
Too many team and personal records to list.
Manufactured?
No script. Just domination.

if this is how you feel, jaded as that is. Stop watching football and watch only your WWF. you are confused myfriend . The NFL which is a business. Would not push a product like the Patriots (which most hate) to us if most don't want it. All your refrences, you must be young.

15. I was hatched and raised in NYC, and a die hard Giants fan. But even the simplist of minds know the Pats are the best team in NFL history, and that is why everyone hates them. A thing called jealousy. This is going to be a great super bowl. GO GIANTS!
Posted at 7:41PM on Jan 26th 2008 by Jim
16. Jim,
I respect a Giant's fan with an honest point of view. You show alot of class in what you have said. That's awesome! The 2 teams in the Super Bowl have not gotten there by mistake. They are the best! Good luck to you. and your team. I will be cheering for my Patriots, but I wish the best to you, a real fan. Thank you!

17. Patriots... they disgraced the name with cheating, dirty play and cheap shots. Pats fans need to come back to reality. Those are proven FACTS. Not interested in the WWNFL. Zero integrity. Enjoy your scripted game to go along with the scripted season.

18. Nobody outside NE will root for Goliath over David. Pats have gone from underdog to top dog. As a Pats fan I understand completely.

19. I grew up watching the hapless Boston then New England Patriots I put up with the pain of no Monday night games for a decade, the loss to Houston in 78/79 then being embarrassed by a 85 Bears team that has only one appearance in the Super Bowl since. This team is the best coached best executing machine the NFL has ever seen. It's easy to hate Belichek or Tom Brady what do they care they have rings and Giselle but as a fan I am in awe of the ability they have to focus and play 60 minutes. No team in the NFL except the Pats plays 60 minutes every game. Pats win make it 4 out of 7 and lets focus on 08 and another ring to fill a whole hand. If you hate the Pats to bad you root for a loser then.
Posted at 8:51PM on Jan 26th 2008 by Steve
20. This just goes to prove that you can cheat in America and still come out on top. Nobody outside New England would understand or embrace this philosophy.
