Adam Schefter of NFL Network reported today that the Washington Redskins' weird coaching search included a meeting in St. Louis with USC head coach Pete Carroll. Although it's not clear whether the Redskins were just asking if Carroll had any interest or whether they were actually telling him the job was his if he wanted it, it's yet another sign that many NFL owners are convinced that Carroll's success at USC means he deserves a third chance in the NFL.
Still, the Redskins job is the type of job he'd be expected to turn down, no matter how much money Redskins owner Dan Snyder was offering. All indications are that Carroll will need total control if he's ever going to return to the NFL, and that's not something Snyder is willing to offer.

cheerleader, I mean coach pete will go back to the nfl, he has to, his ego will make him, he so badly wants to prove he can do it and he's blinded his perspective, he can't see that it's a completely different game from college, so don't drink the kool aid people

It seems to me the prescription for success has already been established, by the New England Patriots. I just dont why Daniel Snyder keeps trying to re invent the wheel

petey will come back, someday, when a decent team needs him. not some joke of a team like the redskins, dolphins or raiders. pete has got a great thing going at usc. and it would have to be a great situation and bags full of money to lure him back to the nfl. but when a rookie head coach like mike tomlin gets handed the steelers job, you have to wonder. pete is just waiting for a decent team.

Carroll would be a fool to leave his job at USC. He's adored in the community and will just continue to have success there. If a team moves to LA, then he may take that job, but he's got a nice cushy job and I don't think he needs to stroke his ego in the NFL.

I thought Pete has some success in New England after Parcells left. Two trips to the playoffs, in three years. It's not what Bellicheck is doing, but I guess Ol' Pete didn't have it in him to cheat his way to the top.

Pete Carroll is a classless individual. My lasting impression of him will forever be of him taunting Pete Stoyanovich as he missed a field goal by placing his hands around his neck in the classic "choke" signal. As a professional, I would think behavior like that was/is below head coaches.

Pete Carrol is a great college coach. The NFL is and will always be a grave yard full of coaches. The Patroits have won because the good players want to play for them. The bad teams seem to lose these good players. Look at Miami and them letting wr Chambers go to the Chargers. I could go on and on about these bad teams. I live in Atlanta. Do I need to say more. Arthur Blank is awful as a owner of a Professional football team. The Atlanta arena team is better. By the way, Arthur owns them too. Arthur might want to sell the Falcons and stay with the Atlanta Force.
Thats his level of expertise.

There are alot of coaches who are great college coaches , but lousy in the NFL. Dennis Erickson, Steve Spurrier, Lou holtz.
Don't go that route again.

Dan Snyder hires his offensive coordinator BEFORE hiring a head coach? Genius. Just like trying to charge fans to watch pre-season practice sessions. R.I.P. 'Skins fans.
