As if Syracuse hasn't had enough troubles with injuries and players quitting, they now have another loss. Freshman guard Scoop Jardine has been suspended indefinitely. It is the dreaded, "violation of university policy." He is likely scheduled for a hearing sometime in the next two weeks. Until that hearing, he won't be playing -- and maybe not after the hearing. What does that mean for the depth of the Orange? It means that Syracuse is down to seven scholarship players. In the Providence game that Syracuse won, freshmen Donte Green and Jonny Flynn played all 40 minutes and sophomore Paul Harris played "only: 37 minutes because of foul troubles.
Really, the Orange are playing with only six scholarship players because Coach Jim Boeheim doesn't want to play freshman center Sean Williams who he doesn't feel is anywhere near ready to play in the Big East. Boeheim is looking at other options.
"We've never played walk-ons here," Boeheim said. "We've always had enough guys. But they're going to play now."In the next two weeks Syracuse has games at DePaul, at Villanova and UConn. That seems like fun.

While there have been devastating losses to Syracuse's program this year, the experience that the young players are getting will take them far in the future, and Boeheim will do everything in his power to get the most out of what he has left to work with. Some of the players no longer on the team were not going to help them win any games, but just having them there to suit up would have helped tremendously. This team could be one of Boeheim's best next season if they are all healthy and all return to the team. On another note - has anyone noticed how well the women's team is doing?

Cry me a river is the way this song goes. They play a soft schedule and played the same style of ball from 1984 and they wonder why they do not advance. And don't give me that RPI crap, I could go on about that alone. You want them to get better, quit playing like they were getting ready to play Dean Smith and his "Four Corners". He bombed Kentucky about if they get in the big dance in March but he failed to say anything about UK's injuries and missing players. The grass aint no greener on this side huh Jimmy B.
