One of the many reasons that Super Bowl media day is an ultimately useless exercise is that the late-night talk shows descend on media day with their roving correspondents, people who don't ask anything interesting but hope they can elicit something funny. One person who was trying to elicit something funny -- and failing, from what I saw -- was Kellie Pickler, a former American Idol contestant who was at media day in her role as a Tonight Show correspondent. Pickler was very excited that Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi knew who she was, but her attempts at being cute and getting the players to open up to her fell short.
At least, she was failing when she tried to be funny. I found it fairly amusing when she approached ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, who looked like he was about as interested in talking to her as he was in getting a root canal. Paolantonio was one of the few members of the media who treated media day as though it was an opportunity to do some actual work, and he refused to talk to Pickler when she tried to ask him about having media credentials. Instead, Paolantonio pointed to Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Bob Ford and said, "Bob will play along." He did.

5. To be fair, it's probably the most important working day of Sal's year.

6. Seems like others thought differently.
Kellie Pickler's Leno appearances are legendary. I'm sure this is going to be great on Friday.

From NFL.com:
Patriots rookie safety Brandon Meriweather on Kellie Pickler: "She has to be the funniest thing that I've seen so far."
Also: "I've never been interviewed like that before," he said later. "It was hilarious. Jay Leno's got jokes for life."
From the NFL.com blog: Giants players Tank Daniels, Danny Ware and K.J. Harris somehow got roped in to wearing eye-black strips that said "I love Kellie Pickler." (Who doesn't, really?)

7. About real work......
Surgeons, operating to save lives do real work. Police officers and firemen, risking their lives to serve the community do real work. Teachers, working hard for little pay to teach the next generation do real work.
Profesional athletes make alot of money for playing a game. Sports reporters, even further down on the list of people doing real work, only report on what the athletes do.
Lighten up! Media day is the most boring part of the Super Bowel and for Kellie or anyone to come in a lighten up the "serious work" is a breath of fresh air. All other reports I saw said the players loved her and said it was the best part of media day for them.
Sports reporters....you guys take your job way too seriously.

8. Wow, this Paolantonio guy sounds like a major douchebag. He is only a sports reporter for God's sake.
