Some five months ago this seemed like a ridiculous notion: the Patriots might have trouble re-signing Randy Moss. There was even speculation that he would be released during the preseason.
Yeah, that didn't happened. In fact, Moss set the single-season touchdown reception record and is now in line for a humongous payday. He's contract expires in a few weeks and while he would obviously be the most desirable
Maybe not. Moss took a Foxboro discount to get out of Oakland and there's reason to think he'll want to be compensated for his 2007 season.
[Moss is so] important that he might be impossible to sign to a new contract. The Patriots do not give their players record-setting deals. Brady, for instance, is not the highest-paid quarterback in the league....Somehow I see this working out. And you know what? Even if it doesn't, I'm guessing the Patriots will manage (assuming they don't just franchise Moss). I mean, they were one absurdly awful half of football from going to last year's Super Bowl with Reche Caldwell and Jabar Gaffney as the team's best receivers.
The Patriots can't treat Moss any differently than they've treated their other players without sabotaging the team-first philosophy that has allowed them to go to four Super Bowls in seven years.
And Moss might not be willing to play for less than top dollar. One agent said if he represented Moss, he would ask for considerably more than the best-paid receiver in the NFL is getting.
As for Moss, wherever he lands, he'll surely get paid. The only question -- and it's a big one -- is if he'll be the 2007 version, or the 2005-06 model that half-assed it through two seasons in Oakland.

Too many factors to take into consideration for whether he'll stay or go. He's got his "potential" legal troubles, although I think it will get sorted out. He's a part of a "TEAM/FAMILY" now and I think that will be important. He's being thrown to by the best QB ever and that HAS to come into the equation. He can make up some money through incentives, and then you gotta wonder if money is really all that important to him, at this point in his career. "Straight Cash Homey" might have been the mantra of the past but emotionally he's probably changed a lot and might make decisions differently now.
And wtf, we still have a game left to play!!!!

One monetary problem the Pats will have is the fact that if they win the Super Bowl Moss will have what he went there for: a ring. Once he has that there is no reason to take a pay-cut.

Without Moss, the Pats aren't half of what they have been this season. He is absolutely the most important player on that team, along with Brady of course.

Don’t forget all the Asante Samuel cash that will be available this off season.. I can’t see the front office giving him along term deal for the money he will be offered. That money frees up a lot of cap room for signing Moss to a three or four year deal, unless there is a glaring need going into the draft at another position they can pick up a top flight CB with their first round pick

Randy Moss has had his best season this year. I wonder how much longer he can keep that up.

Despite all that is said about Moss, what is known is that he is an intellectual player when his head is in the game. I think that both Belichick and Brady intrigue Moss and keep him mentally into each game. I think Moss is very aware of what a special arrangement it is to be on the Patriots for his mental preparedness through a whole 16 game season. He will have earned a better salary than he received this year and he will get more from the Patriots to play for them in 2008, but he will not ask for more than what the Patriots are willing to pay him because he seems to relish what he has found in NE. Plus, I think he has found a football soul mate in Tom Brady.

all i can say about Randy Moss is "yuck." But seriously the Pats are going to work this out because they are really Randy's only option as far as I'm concerned. You've seen that he won't really play unless things are perfect for him. Other than the Pats, no team can create a perfect scenario for him and the teams know this, so they won't chance paying to bring him in only for him to pout like a baby when the road starts getting a little bumpy.
Moss is more talented than my favorite WR, Steve Smith (carolina, not nyg). but smith gives his all no matter how bad things get in Carolina; that's the type of player you offer a good contract, not a guy like Moss.

Sure angryguy77,
you were wrong about the Pats all season long yet you continue to make BAD predictions. I suggest you never bet against the Pats, cause if you do, not only will you be angry but you will be poor as well.
How about them Packers! HA HA.
