Mercury Morris has become the outspoken spokesman for the 1972 Dolphins and their death-grip on the only undefeated season in modern NFL history. He was available to anyone who wanted to talk about the undefeated season. Now, he's drinking the champagne as he knows that the Dolphins just dodged their closest competition for perfection. He may have worn aqua during his career, but on Sunday night, Morris was a red, white and blue Giants fan, as he explained to ESPN:
"When this kid scored, a tear came to my eye because I'm emotional. You guys know you never see me like this. I'm very humbled at what the Giants were able to do as underdogs. Realize that on any given Sunday anyone can beat anyone else, except in 1972.With the Patriots loss, the Dolphins are likely safe for several more years to come. With a slew of players in their 60s now, it's likely that many will now be able to live the rest of their lives without having to welcome anyone else to their club.

1. The Pats were looking for a parking spot on Mercury's street. But as any New Yorker knows, its tough to find good spots. They just have to settle for "almost perfect".

2. I'm so tired listening to Merc Morris. Shame on sports television for puting a no class, washed up, unsportsmanlike jerk on the air. Records are meant to be broken, they had to break a record to get theirs. Instead of emphasis on what a great game it was, no matter the record, it was a great game. we had to hear merc patting himself on the back. He never even mentioned the great play of the giants. He only put down the pats.

3. gotta agree with Dennis. Why is this assclown still getting air time? What does the general public care about a bunch of bitter old men who can't let go of a mediocre sports record to begin with. I hate Boston and its fan legions, but the Patriots would have been a far more classy group to have behind that record than those spiteful geriatrics.

6. The main reason i wanted the Pat's to win was that I'm tired of these old pathetic ex football players and coach coming on every year to celibrate when a team is no longer un-defeated. GET A LIFE!!! 1A, 1B shut up.

7. Hey Bert, Let me help you out. There is no "'" in Pats, the words are "ex-football" players, "undefeated" and "celebrate". Even those "old pathetic ex football players", as you called them, are smart enough to know how to spell. Don't hate the only undefeated team in history or the games winningest coach.
