Most of the water-cooler conversation on this morning after the Super Bowl will be about the game itself, but America will also be talking about this horrible Super Bowl commercial:
Those talking pandas were brought to you by SalesGenie.com, and they're being ripped today. The Kellogg School Super Bowl Advertising Review panel called the ad offensive and lacking a clear description of the site. Cathey McClain Finlon of McClain Finlon Advertising called the ad, "Poorly conceived, unfunny, poorly executed." Anthony Hall of MVN writes, "I hope some sort of boycott is organized against Sales Genie."
I'm guessing that's not the reaction Sales Genie was hoping for when it shelled out millions for Super Bowl commercials.

I don;t see anything wrong with it. I like the idea with the pandas and bamboo. Not all the commercials have to rough and masculine-oriented. It is not really unclear.

Sales Genie also had another, similarly strange commercial featuring an Indian man.

The commercials were bad because they relied on ethnic stereotyping through the voice imitations. Was the racial distinction necessary? Or was it meant to be the attention grabber? If the latter, then where's the blackface edition of the commercial?
Oh, right! Because if they did that, then they'd get nailed to the wall by all the offended black people in the world, but since those of Indian and Asian descent tend not to speak out, it MUST be okay.....

I don't waste the time watching the game...just wait the next day for the ads. I went through them three times. What a horrible commentary on what ad people thinks sell product. Budweiser hit the target with "Hank", Bud Light was marginal. The squirrel was okay, but it seemed too redundant of ads we've seen before about products. For the millions shelled out to create/produce/buy ad time, the companies were fleeced royally by their ad agencies. I too found the Sales Genie ads offensive and dumb. Did any of the agencies do any market testing on their ads? If they had, 95% of them never would have been aired.

Both Sales Genie ads were terribly offensive. The top executives of this company are in desperate need of diversity training. Who approved media advertising in such poor taste and then paid $2.4 million for these commercials to air? What a waste of money!

Ok, first, the ads feature PANDAS. Now boys and girls, where are pandas from?????? CHINA. So...do we give our pandas Indian accents, Chinese Accents, German accents, or British? Chinese? Wrong!!!! Off to the Politically Correct Rehab Center for you, the reeducation camp for the racially insensitive!
You PC whining babies need to get a life. The commercial was not terrible becasue it had pandas with Chinese accents, it was terrible because it was a cheaply made, poorly written, kindergarten level waste of ad time.

I didn't catch the racially offensive nature of the SalesGenie Panda commercials -- they were so incredibly stupid and hard to understand and follow that I guess I just missed all that.
I thought one of the best ones was the Bridgestone commercial with all the animals screaming. It was simple, yet funny, and in the end it left you feeling like having good tires can prevent a lot of tragedies on the road, including bigger ones than having a squirrel flattened on the pavement. Brilliant!

if you're not in the racial minority group that's being caricatured, then there's a good chance you wno't get the offensive nature of the commercial.

If you feel offended because the Pandas used a thick Asian accent, well, GET OVER IT. What dialect would you have chosen? People waste too much time finding issues where there are none to be found.

What was wrong with the ad? As soon as it was over, I phoned and ordered "Flied Lice" and "Ro Main" and enjoyed the rest of the game!

and would any of you be saying the same thing if they had black people on the commercial? i doubt it. like i said, people who aren't in the racial minority group wouldn't understand because it's not them in the spotlight. thus anyone who isn't either asian or indian has a miniscule and moot opinion on it because you're an outsider on this issue.

The advertising firm had to decide to parody ethnic subgroups in order to animate these ads. They made an affirmative decisison to make fun of people. It was in extremely poor taste and the marketing director and ad form should both be canned. I work in communications and based on the negative feedback these people are getting across the web (just google racist salesgenie) in my field, these people would lose their jobs.

If you're looking for someone to take it out on (and you weren't in the market for "sales leads", WTF?) You can follow these dots to a certain presidential candidate:

The half time show was terrible. The music was 2nd rate at best and at least half the commercials were worthless and certainly not worth the money that those companies paid
