Charles Grant Absolved From Blame in His Own Stabbing

I never really enjoy hearing about violence, but with all of the negative attention surrounding the NFL's off-field troubles, it's at least refreshing to know that an altercation involving a player wasn't caused by the player himself.
Capt. Will Caudill, chief investigator for the Early County Sheriff's Office, said that though the fracas is still under investigation, there appears to be no connection between Charles Grant and a pregnant woman who died after being struck by gunfire, and Grant was a victim, not a perpetrator.
...
"...Charles was not part of the fight," Tolley said. "He's a big guy. He kind of stands out in a crowd. This wasn't one of those deals where Charles went in and started a fight. He wasn't even drinking. I think that's important for people to know.
Commentor Small Town Boy claims to have been there and has a pretty different story, and I'm not saying he's lying, but everybody is pretty adamant about Grant's innocence, plus the Internet exists for the sake of ... lying.

It's good that the media didn't overreact against Grant before details emerged (they might have if they, again, had covered the story at all). But while Saints fans are celebrating the health and innocence of their pricey defensive end, a pregnant woman was killed, leaving three children behind. Not exactly a joyous occasion.
