ESPN NFL analyst Sean Salisbury and NFL reporter John Clayton frequently have on-air verbal sparring matches, and for the most part they seem more good-natured than mean-spirited. But at the end of this video, Salisbury goes too far, insulting Clayton's appearance by calling him "Crypt Keeper":
It's clear from the look on Clayton's face that his feelings were hurt by Salisbury's comment, and while Salisbury might say he was just joking, the fact is, it was mean. If Salisbury insulted the appearance of a female colleague he'd be in trouble for it, and just because Clayton is male doesn't mean Salisbury should take cheap shots at him.

1. I always just wondered where Salisbury gets his Ego from? Is he really still living off of the good ole days at USC? Guy's a real munson.....
Clayton looks weird and is kind of a dork, but I much prefer him to Salisbury Steak screaming at me telling me the dynamics of the NFL Quarterback position, one he clearly didn't understand or accel at. Way to be like the govt. ESPN, and hire all your old drinking buddies for analysis positions!

2. John Clayton is an effing HOF-honored reporter!!! Salisbury isn't a Hall of Famer at anything, and he never will be.
Salisbury peaked when he was publically embarassed for sending pics of his junk to numerous women at ESPN - all he can hope to be is a sideshow.

3. Clayton should have reminded Spareisbury that both of them are tied for career NFL playoff wins.

4. Salisbury acted like a real jerk in this interview. Just because Clayton is a bit of a geek doesn't mean he doesn't have valuable things to say/share. Salisbury showed his intelligence or lack thereof in spades......

8. I think the Cryptkeeper should be more offended for being compared to John Clayton.

9. Please someone put Bayless and Salisbury in a bus together and then proceed to drive that bus off the largest cliff you can find. What a hack.

10. I wish ESPN would get rid that arrogant P.O.S Salisbury.Nobody likes this want to be anyway. When this freak played for Minnesota he was a clip board carrying scrub.I think if you are going to commentate on the NFL for ESPN you should have had at least an average NFL career.Something this bald headed prick never had. What a scrub.

13. It's time for Sean to shut his pie-hole... The more he talks the worse it gets... He better shape up or he might suffer the same fate as Michael Irvin...As far as former QB'S are concerned he was never a wanna-be.. He was a never was..........

14. That's pretty mean of him.
I don't like John Clayton. As soon as the Giants won, making him look like an idiot for taking the Pats by 25, he wrote an article of why the Giants wont repeat to cover his ass.....
.. but still, that ain't right

15. So many of these guys are lucky to have these jobs. 25 years ago, Skip Bayless and Woody Paige and Sean Salisbury would be limited to newspapers where their personalities wouldn't appear starstruck and grotesque. So many "analysts" have nothing to say anyway. Has Terry Bradshaw ever offered anything valuable? Emmitt Smith? Michael Irvin? I don't need to hear their opinions, I watched the game myself.
At least John Clayton is bright, even if he did not play the game.

16. I watch ESPN all the time. It is mostly great. I do have to let ESPN know that these segments with Sean and Clayton are really bad. Clayton is just as bad as Sean in his negative remarks. It really does not add to my value as a consumer of ESPN. I really think that ESPN could come up with something else to put on the air and leave this one out.

17. i agree with salisbury with the answer to the question about shockey!! but salisbury did go too far...it seemed as if he was trying to muscle the poor geek! but clayton just kept talking about "healthy" and that wasnt the question!! i like salisbury...his analysis of games are interesting...but he did cross the line with this one!!
