Vikings running back Adrian Peterson had a rookie year that exceeded expectations. He set the all-time record for rushing yards in a game, he won the rookie of the year award, and he'll play in tomorrow's Pro Bowl. But Peterson says he's going to be better in 2008. A lot better. According to Mike McAllister of ESPN.com, Peterson thinks he's going to have a 2,000-yard season in 2008.
It's a fine goal for Peterson to have, but it's not realistic for fans to expect Peterson to rush for 2,000 yards this year. Peterson came up well short of 2,000 in 2007, rushing for 1,341 yards as a rookie, and even if he's healthier and therefore gets more carries this year, as long as Chester Taylor is still a Viking, Peterson isn't going to carry much more than 300 times in a season, which means 2,000 yards is almost certainly out of reach. Still, give the guy credit for setting lofty goals."Oh, yeah, I set my bar high," he said this week, one of just four rookies (Patrick Willis, Joe Thomas and Nick Folk are the others) appearing in the Pro Bowl. "That's definitely where I'd like to start."

1. How in the world is 2000 yards "almost certainly out of reach" when he had 1036 yards through 8 games last year, as a rookie! IF he stays healthy its certainly quite possible.

3. The problem is that he won't stay healthy. He runs too high and will therefore be prone to leg and ankle injuries.

4. He wont even get 1000 yards if Childress doesnt wake up and get a real QB. Tarvarian Jackson SUCKS.

5. its tavaris, not tavarian you Efing retard. and besides that was pretty much T-jack (tavaris) rookie year pretty much. and its hard to trow the ball when you got people who wouldnt even get scouted for college teams catching them. bobby wade is a great 3rd string reciever. great blocker but hes nothing extra special. sydney rice has potential. but untill the vikes get quality recievers, you cant judge jackson, because he got better after every game he played last year. and he had a pretty good record when he started games. vince young is a horrible quarterback but he wins games. thats all that matters, dont have to be pretty long as you get the win

6. Bobbin Bob, It`s throw the ball, not trow numbnuts. This might explain your acceptance of Tarvarian`s QB ing skills. Better after every game ? What were you watching in the last game of their season ? Dancing with the stars? Also, didnt Childress trade the best reciever in football for the chance to draft Williamson in the FIRST ROUND. Not exactly high school, pay attention nimrod.

7. Childress didn't trade Moss. Red did and in the middle of the sale. Troy was a bad investment. It can be fixed with a veteran WR in the free agency.
Childress does have to wake up and not think these are high school jocks and stop punishing them for pityfull reasons. example leaving your star RB on the sidelines during the last game of the season when he still needs reps.
