Another day, another bizarre video showing Chris Berman while he thinks the cameras aren't running while on the set of Monday Night Football in 2000. Thanks to Sports by Brooks for pointing this one out:
In this clip, Berman talks about how to sneak codeine-laced aspirin into the United States. One can only start to wonder who is posting these things to YouTube, and why. I assume it's someone who once worked at ESPN and who dislikes Berman, but why post them now, when they appear to be more than seven years old?
They're strange videos -- a bit reminiscent of the videos in the movie Cache -- and I'm intrigued to find out what's coming next.

2. Who cares about what Berman does when he thinks the camera's are off. It has been very apparent for a long time that he strongly influences who gets to do what on ESPN. He used to be interesting but now his fare is old, used and lame, but then, so is Chris. They yell too much, and canonize their heroes. I generally will turn the TV off when Chris Berman starts to be involved - he's terrible.

4. WHo FREAKING CARES? Berman is an IDIOT, he THINKS he is bbeter than he IS, He is annoying at BSET and offensive most of the time. He is the wrost of what ESPN has to offer so if they dumped his FAT azz I would laugh mine off!

5. Hilarious. I always thought he was an ass, but to see it proved is funny beyond words. Codeine... He's a druggie, hahaha. I can't wait for more.

6. Berman's ratings have really taken a noise dive and that was before the codine. And, that's not a Pun!

7. Funny that this shows up at the same time that ESPN cans TaFoya and all the women associated with MNF, eh?

8. Nothing new here. BTW, if we could see any other TV anchor's off air comments, they'd be just as lame, generally worse. They all have their own production assistant to chat with, give them cues, wake them up...etc. Someone who makes them feel important, sexy...whatever keeps them happy and smiling on camera.

9. He's a bad example for sports, just for the fact that he's a big fat slob, that repeats the same old sayings all of the time.

12. Some vendetta, These pills are sold legallly over the counter in Canada, have been for years. If this is a vendetta it is really weak. By the way they are great pain killers, but if you take them for a extended period of time they will bind you up.

13. Now that they have gotten rid of the dippy women reporters do the same with him.
I usually turn the sound off during the halftime rerun of the first half anyway and can not stand his voice.

14. If you are reading this blog it is because you are a sports lover. Just remember Chris was there at day 1 of ESPN which we all love and thrive on. He has paid his dues. For what ever reason you people hate Berman. Who Cares. Get a life

15. ESPN used to be good. When they used to show a lot of highlights with neat catch phrases. Now, all they do is talk talk talk. They analyze this and that, and talk about one player all the time. Just like MTV....ESPN sucks now!!!

16. ESPN has over-hyped sports for way too long. It's time for Ruppert to produce an authentic sports network without the clowns and hype mongers. They either over produce or over analyze everything. Who cares? Just show me the real thing and leave out the hyperbole. I can't keep Sportscenter on for more than 10 minutes at a time.

17. It's really sad when sports reporters feel they should be treated with the same celebrity status of the folks they report on...sad and annoying. ESPN needs to re-visit the reasoning behind its very existence and then insist that its on-camera staff adopt that ideology.

20. What the Heck is wrong with that Berman Video? I buy them whenever I get to Canada. Now that Espn got rid of those Goofy Women, is some Goofy Bitch trying to get rid of Berman? ESPN should not even air the thing. NO BALLS. if this crap keeps up, I will stop watching ESPN.
