Wally Szczerbiak's wife is due give birth to the couple's first son in a couple weeks. Wally picked out the name, according to the Tacoma News Tribune (via Randball by way of Ball Don't Lie). "Maximus Szczerbiak." This apparently is not a joke...... nor was it a joke when LeBron James named his son "Bryce Maximus James." LeBron, as a 23-year-old kid who grew up incredibly fast... you can understand an irreverant middle name like "Maximus," I suppose. A 31-year-old dude from Long Island? Ummm... (And yes, the reason you assume -- because Wally really likes the film Gladiator -- is the reason it's happening. I like Resevoir Dogs but you don't see my naming my kid "Mr. Pink Ziller." Actually, that sounds kind-of nice...)
"Maximus Szczerbiak." Let that sink in a little. "Maximus Szczerbiak."

1. Maximus means the greatest comes from latin and greek roots ( the highest).
