Can't make up that headline if you tried. And you wouldn't think that you could make up this story if you tried, but apparently you can. Steve Nash, long known for being environmentally conscious, is playing basketball in shoes that are made of garbage. Well, not like trash-trash. It's more like waste materials, albeit one would presume safe ones, that are being recycled to make the new Nike Zoom BB II Low the first in Nike's "Trash Talk" line, which Nash will be wearing tonight.
'Any opportunity to promote the environment and preserve our planet is a step in the right direction,' Nash said. 'I'm very excited to be one of the first athletes to wear the Nike Trash Talk. I think people will love the shoe, and hopefully by wearing it I can inspire others to try it out as well.'Some people make Darfur videos and some people play in recycled shoes.Regardless of your political stance on the environment, you're silly not to at least recognize that we have some legitimate problems going on around us in terms of needing to conserve, etc., so what Nash is doing is certainly admirable. Oh and Nike too.
Nike footwear designer, Kasey Jarvis said: 'I was really looking for a 'here and now' solution to footwear waste, and creating a performance product using waste materials felt like a very innovative solution. Using Nike's Considered design ethos I was able to create a shoe that stands up to the stringent on-court performance requirements but is also more environmentally friendly.'Well, good work, Mr. Jarvis. For those interested, you can purchase the All Star version of the shoes (shown above courtesy of Kix and the City) in New York and New Orleans this week for roughly $100.00. The Phoenix Suns home/away versions will go on sale April 22. And, ideally, Nash posts a 20-20 game tonight and we start seeing more NBA players follow suit.

1. What, exactly, are these "problems" "in terms of needing to conserve"?
LOL. . . . unless you are referring to the problem that millions of people are ignorant to the fact that the entire environmental movement is a hoax intended to do nothing other than convince more people in free societies to give up their liberty and adopt big-government socialism.

3. You two can't be serious.
Nash is doing something great, and setting an example for others to follow. It's not the 1970s anymore. The "environmental movement" is not a conspiracy, and the US is pretty much the only developed country that won't admit that.
If you really think we don't need to conserve anything, and that anyone who is putting the environment first just wants "big government socialism" (which is funny because we're also one of the most conservative countries in the world, so I don't think we're in danger of that), then you are sadly misled.
The only thing I have a problem with is the things are still $100.

4. Kustie the Klown, being a clown. Interesting. You are definetly not part of the intelectually curious group. Not part of the socially aware group also.

5. Interesting that wearing shoes made of recyclable waste material suddenly blossoms into government socialism. I hadn't ever thought of that....you're absolutely right...IT IS A CONSPIRACY!?!?!? OH MY GOD, THE SIERRA CLUB IS A FRONT FOR THE USSR!!!!!!!!!!!!

6. Gvic couldn't "of" said it better himself. "of" is a preposition. I think you wanted to say you couldn't have said it better yourself. "Have" is the adverb you were looking for, I suspect. Kustle needs to read a little, too.
