KG Likely to Return Tomorrow in Denver

The Celtics did the right thing by making sure that Kevin Garnett's abdominal injury was completely healed before allowing him back on the court. It appears that the team will be rewarded for their patience, as KG is set to return just in time for a nasty West Coast roadie that starts in Denver tomorrow night. As you might imagine, KG wasn't too thrilled about being out so long and is looking forward to his return.

I'm trying to play Tuesday. It's been miserable. To be honest, miserable. But I'm in a good place mentally. I'm dealing with it.

It hasn't been all that miserable for his teammates, at least in terms of the standings. Boston did go 7-2 in the nine games that KG was on the sidelines, so all the absence really affected was his front-runner status in the MVP race. But they were only 2-2 during that stretch against teams with winning records, beating San Antonio and Dallas, while losing to Orlando and Cleveland.

The Celtics' perfect record against the West will be seriously tested this week. After Denver, Boston plays Golden State, Phoenix, and Portland, all of which have better records than all but four teams in the entire Eastern Conference. Should the Celtics continue their winning ways on this road trip with Garnett back in the lineup, I'm sure he'll be right back at the top of the MVP discussion.
