This is funny on so many levels. Like the woman couldn't have just said "yes" to save the dude the humiliation and then told him the next day she changed her mind or something? She better keep walking through that tunnel all the way home. I love the mascot's reaction of the open arms, like, "what's going on," and then the fact that the poor guy had to be escorted by said mascot off the court. Finally, you have to love the fact that someone handed him a beer as soon as he got into the tunnel, although I'm guessing he's going to need something a whole lot stronger to forget about an event like this.
Update: According to a Rockets spokesperson, the marriage proposal was, in fact, a skit that was staged by the team. Special thanks to commenter Jay {Houston) for sounding the alarm.

11. Someone please tell me what in the world is the logic behind these very public proposals. How stupid to put so much pressure on the woman to say yes when she may need time to think about it.WHAT AN IDIOT.

12. Brett, you are so far off base here it's not even funny, and neither is this very sad story. Two people apparently were publicly humiliated here, both the would-be groom and the poor girl who had the courage and honesty to refuse his proposal in front of all those cheering, jeering fans. You say you "love" this story - how sad for you!

20. Update: A couple of commenters suggested that this might have been faked, which I suppose is possible. But wouldn't the TV guys have known about it? "Either way, it's still hilarious."?
A real Jerry Springer moment was this. And no it was not hilarious.
