Mike Martz's Combine Press Conference: Best Comedy Since the Writer's Strike

Mike Martz says he's sick of talking about the Lions, yet he did so today -- at length -- at the NFL Combine. Thankfully, too, because the results were hysterical.

I can't sum up the hilarity in this space -- I urge you to read its entirety -- but Martz was absolutely Belichickian. The basic gist -- the Lions have no idea what they're doing with regards to anything, he's glad to be gone, and Jon Kitna is a really awesome dude. I love when he declined to answer how Roy Williams could get better (sometimes silence says more). Some other excerpted favorites:
Q: How is a firing a mutual thing?
A: "That I agreed I should probably go (laugh). When they fired me, it became mutual. I said, 'You're right. I probably should go.' That's how it became mutual."
Q: Were you surprised the Lions danced around it, never saying you were fired?
A: "I can't explain anything that they do. I can't."
Q: Was the offense too complicated?
A: "Well, if I thought it was that complicated, we wouldn't have done it."
Q: You always said the run-pass ratio didn't matter, but the Lions say they want to run the ball more.
A: "I'm sure they will. And that's all good. That's probably why I'm not there anymore.
Part of me wants Lions fans to be vindicated. Because of things like this, part of me hopes they never Fire Millen.
