An absolutely horrible story is coming out of the Indianapolis Scouting Combine, where Florida State wide receiver De'Cody Fagg was carted off the field during drills with an injury that is being described today as "career ending."Fagg was doing a simple, common drill that required him to catch a pass near the sideline and touch both feet down inbounds. When he planted his right foot in the turf, his knee buckled and he crumpled to the ground.
Although National Football Scouting provides an insurance policy that will pay for his health-care costs associated with this injury, most players in Fagg's position do not have additional insurance that will cover them against lost wages. Fagg was seen as a likely second-day pick who would have most likely made a few hundred thousand dollars as a rookie. Now he may never earn a dollar as a football player.

I really hope this is one of those stories where this kid rehabilitates this knee beyond all odds and turns into a great pro. Sports medicine has come a long way so I will hope and pray for this young man.

How about, lets hope the kid got his degree and worked hard in class like the people who pay for their degrees. Trust God's plan, and it will work out for the young man.

Wait... Didn't this "kid" graduate from a top university? Can't he use his education in some other way than playing pro football? His degree would be his insurance, and still makes him luckier than most Americans his age.

I wonder if steroid use played a part? The guy looks pretty big and jacked for a receiver.

He had a choice to stay home Myra but he chose to pursue the riches the NFL has to offer.

Now I hate seeing anyone getting hurt while playing any sport. Now you may think I'm just a cold-hearted person but I think this is something good that happened because now maybe kids still in college or high school will stay in school and finish college. I'm not really sure if he got his college degree but just think if he didn't and now he has now more scholarship to help him. This is a wake up call to all kids yeah it may not ever happen to you but why even take the chance. STAY IN SCHOOL!!!!!

The sad part is that since he went to FSU, he has no education to fall back on.

Interesting comments. There must be a better way for NFL teams to find out about players rather than have them perform in this manner. Whether this young man or anyone else for that matter goes back to school after not making the grade is immaterial.
