Here's what Asante Samuel said at the official announcement that he had signed a contract with the Eagles:
"I just want a chance to be able to win and get back to the Super Bowl, and that's why I picked the Philadelphia Eagles," Samuel said.
With all due respect to both the Eagles and Samuel, does anyone actually believe that if he just wants to get back to the Super Bowl, the Eagles are the best team for him to join? The Eagles didn't even make the playoffs last year. Do they really have a better chance of getting to the Super Bowl than, say, the Patriots, where Samuel could have stayed?
The Eagles were willing to pay Samuel more than the Patriots were, and that's why Samuel chose the Eagles over the Patriots. I don't begrudge him that -- and I actually suspect that if he had waited a couple of days and visited a couple more teams, he might have had a better offer than the one he signed with the Eagles. But it's silly to say playing in the Super Bowl is the reason he picked Philadelphia.

He absolutely does! New England will not be going to any SB for a long long time. And in reality they have never won any! Cheated themselves to a few titles but have never won any?
Smart move by all free agents leaving the "Dynasty" The dynasty of worthless crap

With all due respect to you, Bill Walters, if you really honestly think that Asante Samuel went to the Philadelphia Eagles be cause he thought that team would give him the best chance to get back to the Super Bowl, you're a bigger moron than your posts reveal you to be. I would understand your belief in Samuel's comments if he went to the Giants, Colts, or Chargers, but the Eagles? A team that barely finished .500? Newsflash! He went to the Eagles for the money, stupid! Nothing more and nothing less than the money. Everyone in Patriot Nation knew Asante was all about money when started flashing his " Get Paid! " tatoo last year during the '06 playoffs, and then held out from training camp this season, so this is no big surprise to anyone except maybe you, so I hope you'll be happy when you see Asante taking too many risks trying to make " the big pick " and get burned by an opposing receiver or drop an easy pick like he did at this year's Super Bowl, which should have won the game for us. Oh, and one more thing, Bill, don't worry about the Pats. I think with the best coach and best quarterback in the game still with them, you'll be seeing them back in the playoffs and maybe the Super Bowl next season. I wouldn't count on the Eagles to make the playoffs, let alone make it above .500 next year.

If he wanted more money he should have waited, instead of signing for the Eagles on the the first day of Free agency.Maybe this is a sign that he likes what the Eagles Front Office has planned for the next season.
I am pretty sure that they will make a move either by trade or free agency for a #1 receiver, and if that happens the Eagles will be one of the favourites to get to the Superbowl next year.

Pats would have won the last suprbowl if Asante didnt drop an easy interception. He is an average corner who used to be great but now has to follow the money,,good for him,,but he will be lucky to make the playoffs with the eagles next year

The Eagles made a good choice. This will make their defense even better.
