This isn't as sexy as Randy Moss coming to Big D, but it ain't a bad consolation prize either: the Dallas Morning News is reporting that the Cowboys could be interested in recently released wideout Javon Walker.

The Cowboys are not in a rush to sign Walker and will gauge how to pay him before seriously pursuing him. Walker played for Cowboys receivers coach Ray Sherman in Green Bay, and Sherman helped Walker in a turbulent 2007 off-season that started with teammate and Fort Worth native Darrent Williams dying in his arms.

Walker has battled injuries the last three years -- Broncos coach Mike Shanahan has indicated that Walker will need microfracture surgery; shockingly, his agent says otherwise -- but when he's healthy, he's a legitimate No. 1 receiver. Dallas already has the ageless Terrell Owens manning the position, but with Terry Glenn nearing the end of his career, Tony Romo probably wouldn't mind having T.O., Walker, Patrick Crayton and Jason Witten wreaking havoc on Sunday's afternoon next fall.

But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves; the Cowboys don't seem to be in a rush to make any moves, and that's probably the best way to approach free agency when there aren't a list full of personnel needs. Plus, no need to blow a chunk of the salary cap on Walker when Moss is still out there.
