Bill Parcells Says Jason Taylor Will Stay With Dolphins, Decries 'Journalistic Irresponsibility'

A day after a report saying Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor would not return to Miami for the 2008 NFL season, Dolphins front office boss Bill Parcells disputed the report.

"This latest report is just another example of journalistic irresponsibility," Parcells told ESPN's Chris Mortensen, referring to a Yahoo! Sports report that Taylor and the Dolphins have agreed that he will leave the team before the NFL draft.

According to Parcells, the only way Taylor won't be in Miami next year is if he chooses to retire.

It's a bit surprising that Parcells is so adamant that Taylor will be back, considering that Parcells has been doing all he can to make the team younger, and that Taylor will turn 34 before the 2008 season starts. But apparently Parcells believes Taylor still has gas left in the tank -- or maybe, Parcells wants the rest of the league to think he believes Taylor still has gas left in the tank, so that he'll have a better bargaining position as he tries to trade Taylor.
