What is it about Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden that he loves him some retread veteran quarterbacks? Last offseason, the Bucs got Jeff Garcia to be their starter and signed Jake Plummer, despite the fact that Plummer had walked away from the NFL. Now this offseason, as rumors of a flirtation with Daunte Culpepper develop, the Bucs have given a draft pick to Chicago for Brian Griese.
Is it such a bad idea, though? After all, beyond Garcia, the Bucs have Luke McCown, who solidified his position as a backup with a couple of dud performances last December, Chris Simms, who has no spleen and is still trying to regain his old form, and Bruce Gradkowski, who looks like he might have trouble making the Tampa Bay Storm roster, really. Griese is a competent backup who, like McCown, could fill in for Garcia in a pinch and might win a game or two.
You'll forgive me, though, if I suspect that the Bucs will announce next that they've lured Tommy Maddox out of retirement. Having that much money might make you a little crazy. Just ask Michael Jackson.

2. Well I think Brian is better than a lot of other GB's out there. Remember he was a winner when he was with the Bucs the first time around.
I think they should trade Simms and Bruce G and get some drift picks. They only have 5 picks this year.
and withn the signing of some of their own free agents and a good drift they just might be a good team
